Physics simulation project problem!

c++/opengl
So, I’m supposed to make a soft-body cube to fall over a sphere. The problem right now is that when the cube collides with the floor, its like his upper plane goes all to the floor until he bounces back. The thing is, as far as I understood, the joints are supposed to limit the deformation of the edges until a certain “minimum” length, the same way goes around to the “maximum”.
I cant find a way to make that “idle” limitation according to the particles positions.
(I know it was an awful explanation, but if anyone who does physics programming reads this, help me out ;[ )
