both effective in different ways, just research it on th net and it’ll tell you, swimmings the best for you because your burning calories and building muscle without straining anything you don’t need to stretch beforehand either because it loosens you up anyway!

Depends on the individual. Your metabolism etc. For example, larger people may find weight loss easier than excersize. Fitter people may find excersize easier than dieting.

Either way, BOTH should be combined with weight loss. If you lose weight but don’t excersize-your skin wont keep much of its elasticity and you will result in having lose or saggy skin.

If you excersize more, your not very likely to LOSE weight but your fat could turn into muscle and your not as likely to put weight on. This is sort of better for weight maintenance.

Its best to eat healthily, keep an eye on the saturated fat content and the intake of calories you are consuming per day. Make sure you aren’t having too much. This weight watchers diet is based on this and it can be very good.

Try to excersize about an hour 3times a week at LEAST. And little excersizes don’t work-you need to make sure your excersize is energetic and cardio-based. Hope this helps.

I am a personal trainer and can tell you that Fat cannot turn into muscle!

But running is the fastest way to lose weight and tone up, swimming is better for your bones tho as you are not putting as much pressure on them.

is the energy from the fat not used to build muscle?

Energy from fat is used to turn into muscle. But it is true this isn’t always effective-again it depends on the individual. Many factors include metabolism, ability to burn fat, how and where fat stores itself in the body.

I think that if you exercise optimal technique in swimming that it burns more calories than running and builds more muscle, because you work every muscle group, including the core.

Swimming is an excellent form of weight loss because you use more of your muscles than you do in any other form of excersize.

Run - if anything, you don’t have to pay everytime you do, and you can do it any time of the day!

I think swimming is more fun, gives great results, and is low/no impact. Running can mess up your knees/ankles etc. Don’t get me wrong, both are great, but I’d go with swimming.

I think swimming works more of your body’s muscles and makes you work more. Running is just more convenient.

Also, if you just build a bit of extra muscle you will burn more calories just sitting around rather then having less muscle.
You use up more calories if you have a lot of muscle.

Why don’t you try a combination of running at first, then jump into the pool to cool off and swim laps while doing that. You’ll feel extra refreshed when you get out of the pool.

Take a shower before you cool off in the pool. Let’s not bring your nastiness into my nose and mouth.

I would say doing the combination, aka “brick” workouts are great. I do those for triathlon training. I usually swim first though, there’s no point in drowning because you’re burnt out from running/cycling ….or making the pool nasty for everyone else

Either form is great, just depends on the volume or frequency you do the exercise. With either form (running or swimming) I would suggest aiming for 1-2 laps of swimming followed by 20sec rest and repeating at least 10-20times. Then walk/run out 2-4 laps and repeat 2times.

The key is form and technique. Look to keep your strokes long and lean. remember to also keep the core activated during your swimming.

Another suggestion is to try and maintain a 4 beat kick — that is 4 kicks per stroke if doing Freestyle.

Essentially any activity is good activity, running, walking, swimming, the key to weight loss is to maintain a constant regular plan of activity. HOWEVER whatever you aim for - try for a minimum of 30mins per session every day. This gives your body a great chance of maintaining the weightloss zone you require.

Combine 30mins a day (if possible 2 x 30mins) with a balanced diet and you will find the kgs disappear. However, keep a diet plan/exercise plan, and where possible do the venture with friends….. best way to keep eachother motivated.

Best of Luck!
