Thought help: Since my car-accident a year ago I’ve been such a mental - Help.com

Since my car-accident a year ago I’ve been such a mental

mess aside from my physical injuries and I just don’t have anymore energy left to fight this fight. I’ve had professional help which eased the direct trauma but not the depression. Thoughts are creeping up in my head that shouldn’t be there. Please help…

you might be just worn out, it takes a while for the body to bounce back and whatever they use to knock you out during surgery takes a while to clear out of the body. Eat a lot of veggies and fruit, drink a lot of liquids and rest and recuperate for another year is my gut feeling.

You might consider anti depressants; you didn’t say if your help included that or not. Sometimes you can get ’situational depression’ over specific events in your life. Go on the meds until you don’t need them anymore then go back off. If you’re taking them already, it might be time to re-evaluate the type and dosage and see if that is what you need to continue taking. It isn’t unusual to have to experiment a little with meds such as that to find out what’s right for you. Be nice to yourself also, agree with Hazel, you’re still healing. Good luck…

You’re probably suffering post-traumatic stress. Its perfectly alright to feel the way you do after such an emotional episode.
Just remember that what you are feeling is only temporary, and will eventually leave you, as long as you keep willing it to.
If you mentally “give up”, then its only going to get worse isn’t it?
Im sure you are exhausted…on every level.
But keep your chin up, and keep fighting.
If you have the strength to get this far, then you can get better.

We’re here if you need us.x
