I have terrifying nightmares

When I was little I used to get really scared of my nightmares, so I finally mentally controlled them enough so that I could myself up by shutting my eyes really hard in them, then being awake.
Now, when I do this I wake up to another nightmare, even worse.
Often times there are demon-like creatures. Things are a bit trippy. I cannot yell or scream, and often times I feel like I’m losing life? I can’t explain it. I wake up and literally feel like a weight has been lifted off of me, and my eyes are droopy, things in my room are trippy and I feel like falling back asleep, but if I do then I fall back into them… So I have to stay awake for a while before I do.

Does anyone know whats up?
Any similiarities?
Is this bad?

lol, man i used to have the same kind of dreams…. u really should not worry u are gonna grow out of them eventually, i did…. some peoples night terrors leave them sooner than others. other then that u should just stay awake for as long as u can after u have them, and while ur awake think of things that u like and u will probably fall of into a dream about these good thoughts. it always worked for me.

I thankfully don’t get nightmares but I have a very vivid imagination so late night horror movies are a no-no.

Also i once got a fever in the middle of summer and hallucinated. I was convinced that one of the creatures from the x-files was out to get me that i randomly shouted out “Sergeant shoot it!” in the middle of the night and stayed up singing to myself.

I know they’re horrible but remember they’re not real and they’ll hopefully go away.

I can totally understand you, I have very similar nightmares, had them for years, and they are very hard to control. But the thing is, I have realised that if I go to bed in a calm peaceful state with nothing worring me, and definitely without watching any horror movies I dont hae such terrifying nightmares, I dont exactly get sweet dreams either, but at least I can have a peaceful dream-less sleep. Also after nightmares I usually try to calm myself down and distract myself as much as I can, so that when I go back to sleep I dont remember them. Hope this helps.

what time do you go to bed and what time do you wake up?

it has been heard that magnetic fluctuations in the earth can effect sleep but its not been looked into much so its not prooven…

I had similar nightmares - creatures, giants and - I wake up sweating and nervous but I was less than 10 years old then. It just disappeared later.

WOW! I was just looking on the internet for someone who experienced the same thing I was experiencing which is very similar to yours. It is so hard because when I tried to explain things to people they would just look at me crazy. An example of what i experienced is i would feel like i am just falling asleep and all of a sudden something takes a hole of my body. i cannot scream or yell as much as i try. i cannot move or anything. the feeling of fear is a million times what i have ever felt in my life. i have had this “thing” get a hold of me about 10 times. i wake up. try to go back to sleep. and boom there it goes again. i am not sure what exactly it is either. i haven’t had it for a couple months but i would still like to know what it is, also.

It’s call sleep paralysis, and it’s a legitimately terrifying experience. I have it as the symptom of a greater medical problem. You may want to see a neurologist.
