The Maya Calendar.
I’m looking into this scary stuff.
So what do you all think?
And also, which of their predictions have been correct so far?
Which have been wrong?

i don’t know.
it scares me.
i think maybe though, the environment will give in to all this **** we’ve put it through, and we’ll have to start over at that time. it will kill off technology.
oh, ive seen 12/23 and 12/21…its confusing now lol
yeah, i think we definitly need to hit the “restart” button on earth…we screwed it over.
ha yeah.
i just hope WE don’t end.
it terrifies me.
it kills.
i think a major event will happen on the winter solstice, but i don’t know about all life on earth being wiped out.

Ooh! I got this one… the Mayan calendar was actually a cyclical affair. In fact it is recorded that they Mayans actually celebrated the year 2012 as it converted over to the year 0 once during their heyday and the world didn’t end!!!
Basically the world ending at 2012 as indicated by the Mayan calendar is like an astrologer saying the world will end when we reach the end of the 12 ‘age’ cycle of the cosmos. They don’t mean that the world will actually end, but that it’s the end of one cycle of the world and the beginning of another.
“This is not the end, this is not the beginning of the end, this is the end of the beginning” (10 power-points for the source)

hmm the maya calendar eh their calender is probably one of the most complex yet accurate calenders there is. The fateful day of 21/12/2012 when the celestine prophecy is realised once again. The mayans similar to the incas completely dissapeared off the cultural map leaving no trace. This unexplainable dissapearance led to many different theories to what happened to them. The most famous of these is that the entire Mayan race reached an energy vibration level and evolved into a new spiritual species.
The mayan calender as coalesce implied follows a circular route ending in 2012 and rebeginning at 0. The end of the calender signifies the end of the human race as we know it to be, it never really meant that we would become extinct it meant that our old selves would die and we would evolve anew.
There are many predictions set for the date 21/12/2012 not all by the mayans but whether they will happen is unknown. So when we go to sleep on the 20th we could just wake up the same as we did before a normal day like any other, one thing will certainly change though and that’s the date

no my 12/21/12 post…
Cyberani, but how does that explain that the Mayans lived through a 2012 to year 0 shift without disappearing, without any major changes being recorded in the anthropological or geological record?
I am most unfortunately a hopeful cynic… when 2001 (2000 being the last year of the old millenium, not the first year of the new one) was rolling in I was squeezing my eyes shut, crossing my fingers, and hoping for world destruction. I rather think I’ll be in the same boat regarding 2012… I’ll be wishing away for the ability to witness the end… but even so I’m rather resigned to the fact that the next day I’ll still have to wipe my bottom and go to work, just like any other day.
