I have had 3 cd roms on my dell lap top 2 internal and one external and all of them seem to stop working after a few months.

The comp is only about 4 years old we had a desk top that lasted 8 years and I never replaced the cd rom. Half the time I don’t use it so I not sure how come they stop working. I need help I am tired of replaceing the cd rom on this comp. I would like to know if there is some thing on my comp that is frying them? What do you think.
