She followed her heart,
Left all she knew to make a new start.
Two thousand miles away
Took her two months to say,
Just to say “I love you.”
He hurt her once,
and then once more.
He broke her heart
but she goes back for more.
It’s funny what one does for love.
Through joy and pain.
but when push comes to shove,
She still loves him.
Hurt her as he may,
She holds to hope.
That maybe some day,
He’ll feel it too.
She just wants him to say,
“I love you too.”

Interesting meter: the first five lines show no particular meter when describing “her” and the next five have a similar backward meter to describe “he,” but by the end when the poem turns, it is more structured like a relationship.

Well, I just wrote what I felt. Unfortunately it’s at times of heightened emotion that my creativity really shines. More often than not it’s the not so happy moments that evoke beauty from my mind.

Artists are always looking for inspiration in the world around them to create something beautiful; it seems just convenient that, since you will almost undoubtedly have these feelings or similar, the inspiration is strictly from within you and about events in close proximity and relation to you.
