computer help: Anyone know about recording on an Aspire 5920G? - Help.com

Anyone know about recording on an Aspire 5920G?

Everytime I try to record something, guitar, voice whatever, using a proper microphone or direct-to-computer, the sound gets really badly washed out if it lasts any longer than about 5 seconds.

Anyone know a solution? Cheers.
