I think if you said, “Once, I was at a friend’s house and they were making funnel cakes and grilling meat. It made me feel as if I was at the carnival, without the rides,” it would be an anecdote. It should be a short story about something that happened.

this might be alot to ask but could you read threw this and tell me if you find an anecdotes?
(yeah I’m just gonna say screw the anonymous thing. I dont know why I even posted anonymous.)

The feeling of joy and pride is over whelming. The Wilson Eagles home coming parade, the only time of the year the town comes together to show their support for our football team. Ten minutes after 3:00pm the school buses haling the children to their homes stops on Main Street so the children can watch the parade. The rest of the town parked all along the streets branching of from Main Street. Everyone stands on the sidewalk in their Wilson Eagles support shirts, and custom made black and gold crusades with little footballs dangling. The sidewalks are packed with people eagerly waiting for the parade to start, with so many lining the streets it makes the old run down buildings behind them not seem so empty and abandoned. They bring their lawn chairs and home made signs that say things like “Eagles #1!” and “Beat the Bulldogs!” You can feel the morale in the air start to rise as the crowed starts yelling in joy when they see the school band start to march around the corner at the very end of Main Street, gradually walking closer and closer to the crowed.
The band starts playing “Black and Gold for ever” The music gets louder and louder. The smell of funnel cakes and meat being grilled makes me feel as if I’m at a carnival without the rides. Everyone gets their first glimpse of the floats as they round the corner in the distance. School organizations other then football, and cheerleading set up concession stands to raise money for new uniforms and trips. Prices outrageous, but with the scorching heat a nice iced down lemonade seems almost worth $2.50. The Band finally reaches the town’s people, followed by the cheerleaders who dressed in black and gold from head to toe with fake football tattoos on their cheeks, the kind they passed out during school to the students to raise money.
The cheerleaders jump up and down kicking their legs out, flailing their pom poms to get the crowed even more excited then before. The high school football boys wearing their black and gold jerseys and ‘war paint’ on their faces yell and throw candy to little children on the sidewalk, while hanging off a huge fire truck like monkeys. People laugh in joy and excitement as they gaze at the floats created by the student body. Gracefully the King and Queen candidates start to throw candy to students and children, riding in fancy vehicles they could never actually afford but their parents had borrowed from a dealer ship. The Queen candidates look so happy, luminous with joy and that urge to be queen over the next girl. Taped to the sides of their cars they have signs that say “Kelly Queen 08!” and “queen candidate 08!” they sit on the back of their convertibles, waving in a miss USA manner, with a strained smile and perfectionaly done makeup and hair. The kings seem so much more at ease about the thought of being Home Coming King. After all, the entire Home Coming election is really for the girls anyway.
The parade makes its way down the road slowly, and slowly the music starts to fade again and the parade starts to move out of sight, suddenly the sound of joy and praise start to fade away along with the smell of funnel cakes and grilled meat. People start heading to their cars and children back onto the school bus. The old broken down Main Street became alone again, with its empty stores and silence.

An anecdote is recalling a personal experience.. so no, it’s not. The example used in the 1st reply would be an anecdote though.
