I was born with a partial seizure disorder.
I was the 1 of 100,000 patients whose medicines made it worse.
I progressed to a full-blown generalized seizure disorder.
When I was 9, a doctor had my parents and 4 strangers hold me down so he good push a tube into my lungs to remove blood.
I was emotionally crippled for life after that.
I can’t do sports because of my epilepsy.
I can’t do normal teen shananegans (i.e. drinking, clubbing) because of my epilepsy.
I have trouble holding onto relationships because of my PTSD.
I hate myself.
Everyone lies to me.
Everyone has hurt me.
Everyone has let me down.
What’s the craziest thing God’s done for me? Well, after all of this, for some reason, I still think he cares.
Gave me a sh*tty life. What a practical joker that guy is.
to GodFather:
how can u blame God for misfortunes, after all u know God can heal u, u go to church? hold any regret against God? maybe this is part of the reason why its happening, but i hope God comes and meets u in this hard time
Shane, I go to church regularly, I pray every day. I confess and give back to those less fortunate. The only thing I hold against God is that he seems to be trying so hard to lose me.
Well,
I agree with Godfather…
God gives us problems, but he also gives us the strength to deal with them and teach others to deal with their problems…
As long you know your life is good and that he has given you the strength to face your adversities, then there is the miracle of God…
All the best and congrats for taking your troubles the way you have…
I doubt God is trying to loose you…
He is just pushing you to your limits so that you can do much more…
(Thats my view of such things)
Thing is I normally see when Im about to loose it he always does something to get me back…
god doesn’t do anything for anyone.
people use god as an excuse to do things…
no doubt, its a good one…
but c’mon … there are tribes in africa that have no clue what or who god is and have miraculous events all the time.
it has nothing to do with god… god is good magnified and we all contain that within us… whatever you want to call it sure… but don’t give some fictitious dude in sandals all the credit when you are responsible…
besides… if we want to talk about what “god”s teachings were - one of them was…
“ye are gods, do not worship me for you can be just like me”
i think he would be appalled at all the responsibility we have given him for our actions.
just my opinion.
I agee in some ways…
But thing is only through him can we be like him…
or in other words following his path…
“ye are gods, do not worship me for you can be just like me”
He meant u can walk in His teachings and do the stuff Jesus did but ONLY with the power of God at yourside
and give one example of this happening in Africa
the power of god is never at your side… its inside.
it is you.
you are a god… if you so choose to live as one.
belief and myths are necessary for our existence they provide hope and history… the christian one just happened to be quite powerful in the world and in our current society… christianity was used to control people - which makes sense. but we seriously need to stop giving this myth so much credit. faith is good though.

For me, God has repeatedly showed Himself by putting the “right” people in my path. You know what I mean, the ones who prod me in the right direction, the ones who support me, and also, the total stranger who makes some random comment that sets me right.
I believe there are things on earth we will never fully understand, like why bad things happen to good people.
The Bible says that God works everything for the good of those who love him. But that doesn’t mean he brings the bad stuff. God’s not like that. That’s sick. Telling someone that God MADE them suffer to teach them a lesson is sick. Would you kill someone’s baby to teach them a lesson? Or would you have six people hold a kid down to sick a tube into his lungs to teach him a lesson? That’s not from God! Be very careful not to slander God’s character. Every good and perfect gift comes from above. Bad stuff happens. We don’t always know why but we know that God loves us and if we continue to follow him he will bring good about in our lives even out of bad situations.
btw I have a miracle story I would love to share but you’ll all have to wait until Thurs. I have a deadline to meet and need to stop fooling around. :)
I don’t believe any deity is real. I’m allowed to say that.
Tell me, theists. What are miracles? Do they prove that a god exists?

Actually you are supposed to reply to the poster’s original question. Otherwise it is off topic and potentially argumentative.
I’ve discussed this with Verum Causa before, and have already reported him.
Sounds like a good topic for a post, Verum Causa, then we could respond without things going off topic from Shane’s post. I’ll put in my two bits (for whatever it’s worth) if you do post on it.
It is an excellent idea for a post, but he needs to understand that he can’t start separate discussions within others’ posts.
Addressing the original poster then. I say a deity has done nothing for me.
hmmmmm…… nothing because god is man made therefore he doesn’t exist only in people’s weird brains

a miracle that ACTUALLY HAPPENED
God told a man he needed to go to China
He had no money, but he said okay God.
He went to the airport saying he had no money to the people there, they said well u kinda need money to fly.
He went to go use the bathroom, and when he came out he was IN CHINA.
EXPLAIN THAT ONE, yeah u cant, its a miracle

Sounds false.
That’s your choice to believe that.
God won’t force you to believe in Him in this life, and by the time you reach the next life and know for sure it will be too late!
Verum Causa wrote:

Sorry, that wasn’t a threat. Just stating my beliefs.
(But you did respond!) lol
i don’t believe in heaven or hell or satan or jesus so i don’t think i’ll get to go either
Religion is just a large scale means of controlling the masses. It’s unfortunate that so many have abandoned critical thought and choice in exchange for blind faith.
Atheists say that it is religion that is the greatest hoax of the ages and it has left so many people in servitude around the world.

I’ve said this before, but that’s cuz religion is a man-made vehicle. Like man, it’s going to be imperfect. Unfortunately, history is rife with examples of religion being used toward bad ends. BUT, that doesn’t mean God doesn’t exist or that we shouldn’t give up on finding our own path to Him. It also doesn’t mean that all religion is bad.
I know. But I haven’t seen any evidence of, nor do I have any reason to seek out a deity. I also have not seen any religion that could only be used for good ends, nor do I have the need to create one.
Yeah, that’s my point. There has never been a man-made organization of any kind (political, religious, charitable, etc.) than can only be used for good ends, right? I can’t think of one. That’s cuz people always have the capacity to muck them up and use them for bad things. So how could a religion be any different?
And if you don’t have any reason to seek out a deity, then that’s a personal decision you have made. Certainly, no one has any right to abuse you for that decision. Although it is interesting to discuss these topics, I think, don’t you? So you’re satisfied with a wholly natural explanation of the origins of the universe and human behavior? My thinking is that these types of questions simply beg for an answer that invokes a deity, or at least a super-natural presence.
That was a new one for me, so I looked it up, Does this definition from dictionary.com accurately depict what a materialist is?
–noun 1. a person who is markedly more concerned with material things than with spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values. 2. an adherent of philosophical materialism.
So based on this, I guess you would say that for you, these questions don’t beg an answer at all, right? If so, that’s fine by me - just wanted to make sure I understood where you were coming from.

So shoot and steal and whatever. Just don’t believe in prison so you won’t go there!
who said anything about shooting and stealing, why would i do that?
Well. What I mean is that I’m a philosphical materialist. I think that everything can be explained with physical explanations.
Also, why would DaNi or I shoot or steal?
Obviously, they didn’t, DaNi - I’m always amazed that some people believe that the only possible motivator of good/”moral” behavior by humans is the fear of satan or going to hell.
Verum - what you describe then is more of a philosophical naturalist, perhaps?? Here’s another blip for consideration:
Metaphysical or ontological naturalism is any worldview in which the world is amenable to a unified study that includes the natural sciences and in this sense the world is a unity. According to such a view, nature is all there is, and all things supernatural (which stipulatively includes spirits and souls and non-natural values) do not exist, or they are reducible to natural things. It is often simply referred to as naturalism, and occasionally as philosophical naturalism or ontological naturalism, though all those terms have other meanings as well, with naturalism often referring to methodological naturalism.
I will have to look at those more to decide which words I want to use to describe myself.
Don’t feel like you’ve got to put a label on yourself on my account. Like I said before, I was just trying to figure out where you were coming from!

The point: Not believeing doesn’t make something nonexistant.

yeah me neither, its a pointless ongoing thing anywhere they believe we don’t no one here is going to change it regardless
Perhaps not, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying a good chat about it. So, thanks to DaNi and Verum and the others for taking part in this one!

Can someone tell me the verse for this? I’m very interested. Thanks.
i think the best thing God has done in my life is when he changed my life inside out. and for that, i dont care if anyone tells me Jesus exists or not, becoz i’m living in his love now and i’ve seen the prove.
you can say you believe in god, but until you really know him personally, you’ll never understand how god loves you or who god is.

there’s no such verse. there’s a similar verse to that in matthew, but this one is really distorted from what the content is… the word are not the same too.
Well can you tell me the verse in Matthew please?

THAT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE, thats a stupid RELIGION the DEVIL made up
Yes we can be like God were we are used by God to heal people and other things, BUT WE CAN NEVER BE GODS, if we were couldn’t we fly?
I would still like to know the verse in Matthew, that the previous poster was referring to if anyone knows. Thanks.
Yesterday, I could have sworn a God loved me (sorry I don’t believe in a God though really). I was walking down the street very fast late for school wearing a smart black suit, when a metre in front of me the most huggeee bird dropping splattered on the pavement. It was school photo day, so normally in my life it would of course have landed on my head, yet God this morning took pity on me and made me a metre late! Heehee :)
Actually I’m thinking it was an unusual case of reverse Murphy’s law.
