Thought help: Hiya, I have 30Gb of songs on my iPod. - Help.com

Hiya, I have 30Gb of songs on my iPod.

I have a new laptop and so I’ve backed up my music, put it onto the new laptop’s Music folder, called it iTunes Music and yet the iTunes library won’t pick it up. Can anyone give me any pointers because I can’t face the thought of importing each folder separately. It’ll take me about 3 days! Any help v. gratefully accepted!

You should have exported the library from your old comp to the iTunes music librbary format and then imported it into the new one. Hang on I’ll check it out on mine.
I’ve done this once before for a friend

Are you working on a Mac or a PC? I’m using XP/Vista and I’ve never been able to find an ‘import’ button on iTunes aside from importing single files or single folders. That is the most obvious thing to try and do. When I say I backed up my music, I chose ‘consolidate’ on the menu so it should have done as you suggested.
