Tell him the truth, you rot and decay until your body becomes part of the earth again. Just pretty it up, that way you don’t have to lie.

lol why not tell him that we do get older, technically we do.
would also help him understand that some peopl still celebrate dead ancestor’s birthdays

Just say this, when people die and they are buried, they grow in a different way. Their bodies become part of the earth but their being still ages. It’s really a tough subject for a 6 year old.

There’s different things you can say. He’s your family you know him best. So you will ultimatley know the best answere. Look at him and see what he’s ready for. The birds and the bees or the truth of the decaying organs. Close to what moogle suggested.

Technically, they still have an age, but it is kinda useless since it dosen’t serve a purpose. They have a “what they would had been” age.
