Reasons to Euthanize a Pet/Animal

I need reasons to why someone would euthanize an animal or pet.

If the animaln is in lots of pain with no hope to get better it is humane to ease their pain and suffering by euthanizing them.

my dog sophie was over 14 years old. we all loved her incredible amounts. she was my best friend. she started wheezing for some reason, it was hard for her to breathe. we brought her to the best vet around. but then, she couldn’t walk. at all. she couldn’t stand up. she was a golden retriever, so she was sort of big. my dad would have to lift her up and she could only walk on her front two legs to go outside. then she lost her appetite and stopped eating and couldn’t walk at all. it was miserable, we had to put her down after trying everything.

are you against it? is that why you ask?

We had a pup put down once because it had gotten the parvovirus. She wasn’t going to survive, and was miserable, so we felt it was the best thing to do.

The only good reason to euthanize a pet is if it’s suffering and there’s no way of it getting back to health or you just can’t afford the treatments or operation.

If you’re thinking of doing it for other reasons… please give all the other options a try first.

My family don’t have the option for spending money to have a dog checked out. My dog pukes once in awhile and is very old and is shedding twice the amount of hair it used to which is very unhealthy for all in the house.

Do you feel this is a good enough reason to euthanize??

If your dog is old and puking a lot then that means that he’s sick and you will have to do it sooner or later. That’s for sure.

So I guess it all depends on when you feel, it is time to…

If you dog sheds all the time use a shop vac on it or give it a bath, if it pukes “once in a while” its sick and needs a vet. If you can’t afford a vet for something as simple as that YOU DON’T NEED TO HAVE A DOG! I have a rat in the last stages of kidney failure. It can barely climb and drinks a water bottle every day. It still wants to eat and responds well to my voice. It’s not a matter of being able to afford treatment there is no real treatment. If he gets too weak to eat or respond to my voice THEN and ONLY THEN is it right.
