I did something stupid.
I bought a 2007 Mazda 5 from a used car dealership in June. The car was bought in my name to be driven by my now ex-boyfriend. The idea was that he’d make the payments and eventually transfer the car to be in his name when we could. He has been making the payments on time and in full. Unfortunately, the relationship has met an end, and so we don’t really know how to handle the car. Here are my questions:
1. Can we transfer the car to his name so soon? (He doesn’t have any established credit, and couldn’t buy the car with his own credit- which is why I ended up buying it.)
2. A bank is the lien holder on the car. Will the dealership take the car back? Is there any way to sell the car?
