Something has to be done because this isn’t just hurting Wallstreet, this problem on Wallstreet is hurting real people and my kids are being hurt by this. My kids lost their college fund when Wachovia failed.

Wachovia did not fail and it will be business as usual on Wall Street
Wachovia is being bought by “Wells Fargo to Buy Wachovia, Trumping Citigroup Agreement” the “Large Banks” Fizz:)
Besides controlling the people what purpose does the Federal Reserve System have?
This is blackmail! There is blood on the streets and they are buying up American Businesses for pennies on the dollar!
I want to shout from the rooftops “WAKE UP AMERICA”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
INFLATION is CAUSED, it does not happen by accident. It is caused by the “Federal Reserve System”. There is NO RESERVE, money (”Notes” I owe u’s) is printed at will reducing the value of each dollar already in circulation, this causes inflation!
Let all Billionaires and millionaires give only halve of there Fortune Back. Money stolen from the People anyway its all solved and there will be lots more left to do free Hospitals etc….
My job is in immediate danger because my employer—a university—cannot afford to keep supporting my department, given its investment losses of the past few weeks.
And I cannot afford to retire because my real-estate investments have lost so much value I cannot sell them and transition to a simpler lifestyle.
On top of that, my retirement fund has plummeted in value, meaning that I will not have enough to make ends meet when my career comes to an end.
After more than 40 years of professional work, I am facing the real possibility of becoming penniless and homeless.
Will the bailout help me? I don’t know. What I do know is that this is not false fear being forced down our throats. This is the unraveling of our nation’s economy and the potential loss of everything we have worked for all our lives.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is either very rich, very clueless, or very brainwashed by the devious and deviant Ron Paul.
I agree we should not pass the bailout! btw Palin was awsome last night she knows how to hold her own even the left couldn’t deny it.
Soulrising you are right that Wachovia’s banking is being bought out, but the stock already plummented and from what I understand the buyout doesn’t effect what’s already happened to the stock holders, it only helps those who bank with Wachovia.
Wait until tomorrow Fizz and Anonymous, it will be back to business as usual. Believe in America, use your principles, this bailout is BLACKMAIL!
I am watching the house now and have been all morning, listening to what all the representatives are saying..and it looks like it will pass, but i just need to vent, so no point in debating about it…and I just am sad and angry I suppose, because I know even with this Bill nothing will change in the long run.
It is sickening how people are giving in on the principles that make this country what it is. This is a terrible bill. Every politician knows it and they know that they could do better, but they don’t. The pork on the new bill is a spit to the face of america, in my opinion. It will not stop the recession or the loss of jobs.. it does nothing but hold off and drag the recession along until we hit bottom, not to mention adding to the wonderful debt this country has.
You just watch. The building block of the economy is the middle class.. and truth is..jobs are down, income is down, savings is down… all this bill is give the american people the chance to BORROW more money… which is part of the very reason we are here. I do not care if you can get your loans or what not… if the jobs and income are not there to back up the loans, the middle class is done for and we will, I would put everything i have on the table, we will hit this low again. Because the middle class cannot at this point, with this system, keep up with the cost.. more was needed to change in this bill.
Giving tax breaks to rum companies, wooden arrows for children, and hollywood… is not going to cut it. As I read once on one of the petitions I signed.. this is a band aid on an amputation. We will, after a short burst of the market going up in confidence, we, the people, will bleed right through this bill. The politicians all do not like this bill, they all say it is no guarantee and refuse to lower the handout to 250 billion in an attempt to even test it out. And our politicians shrink back against what is right…it is a shame really. Just wait for when it all comes down…we will be in more debt and we will end up back where we are now.
rememberpoe Treasury Secretary Paulson, the architect of the plan, was formerly the head of Goldman Sachs, one of the firms responsible for the mess and a direct beneficiary of the bailout. Further, the advisers managing the bailout auctions and assets will be Wall Street firms and will likely receive billions of tax dollars in fees. I agree with you, this is a sad day for the American middle class and most of them are not even aware of the details (history which is not taught in our public schools). It is what the public schools leave out in lessons that must be questioned.
True rememberpoe it only gives the fat Cats a chance to get there money in to Swiss Banks .This bailout is not for you only for the rich Cats ….
U.S. House: Final Vote on Bill HR 1424
Final Vote is being tallied now 15 minutes remaining as of 10-02-08 @ 10:07 am PST
This Bill violates basic principles of American capitalism. Free market capitalism only functions if individuals and firms are held accountable and are allowed to both succeed and profit. They must be allowed to sustain losses and even fail.

This was important rememberpoe. We could have replace the Federal Reserve System, which IS the root of the financial problems in America today. We will go back to using Debt as Money in America. It is a shame that the American public is so easily convinced (blackmailed) with FEAR tactics from the Bankers. The banks just recieved a BONUS at the expense of the Mattoids in America.

It is another example of how both McCain and Obama serve the same Master. I am disappointed that neither of them had the public’s welfare or the country, in mind when they voted to give more to the parasites.

They accomplished nothing Guard, they just got an early Christmas Bonus. This is another sad day for the United States of America. More Ussurptions to our basic foundation “The Constitution of the United States of America, and The Bill of Rights, the core which “kept” us (The People) save, free, and strong.
I still say that at least McCain played a part in stopping the passing of the original bill, that was a nightmare. If you had actually been personally effected by what is going on, then I think your opinion would be totally different, but I will say that I agree with you on one point, we do have to wait and see what happens from here.

Everyone is personally effected Fizz, you just don’t know it yet.
I was more than willing to sacrifice wealth for the future of The United States of America. I have 401k plans…etc. My words, my principle are built on the foundation that this country was formed on. I do not make exceptions and sell myself and my country down the river.

That accomplishes nothing, you as well as all American citizens must choose the lesser evil. The candidate who will uphold the “Constitution of the United States of America”, “The Bill of Rights”. If you vote for any other reason you are throwing the foundation of “We the People” down the toilet. If this country proceeds in a Socialist direction you will no longer have a choice.

I’m not going to play any word games about how the rescue bill affects everyone, I realize that all Americans have a stake in what happens, but inaction would have been far worse. We are just going to have to agree to disagree because we aren’t going to see eye to eye about whether it was or wasn’t needed, it’s done now and all we can do at this point is make our votes count on election day.

What I want to know is, did any of us actually contact our senators and representatives to tell them how to vote? If they do not hear from their constituents, they have nothing to direct them except the Washington mindset. The leaders must hear from us after election day. Frankly, I believe that most of us would rather communicate with one another than with our leaders in Washington. We get what we deserve.

Thanks Fizz. The last time I said this on a post, I was blasted by many both here in the USA and in Europe.
Soul, your voice can be linked with many others to give it more punch. There is a group that I have checked out online that you might relate to. It takes a lot of research to find others who are willing to fight in the war to win back our country from those who only care about their own profits. Do you want to check out the link in case it echoes your concerns?
Anon,
I am well informed. I believe in having a voice. I am not one who hears nothing, says nothing, does nothing. Nor will I come in after all is said and done and say I told you so. Why are you under the “cloak” of Anon? Are you AFRAID of voicing the TRUTH? Many people are, and understandably so:
Most of the Politicians/Public Speakers… who have stood up to the banking powers have been assassinated. These people play for keeps, it is a bloody game, high stakes, high costs.

Yup, I’m afraid. Do you want the link? The organization is communicating some of your concerns to Congress in a big way. I would join it myself, but some of their views are pretty radical for an oldster like me. I won’t post the link unless someone wants it.
“A nation can survive its fools and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gate is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banners openly against the city. But the traitor moves among those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.” Cicero, 45 BC

How about this one rememberpoe
“If everyone enjoyed the unrestricted use of his faculties and the free disposition of the fruits of his labor, social progress would be ceaseless, uninterrupted and unfailing. But there is another tendency that is common among people. When they can, they wish to live and prosper at the expense of others. The annals of history bear witness to the truth of it: The incessant wars, mass migration, religious persecutions, universal slavery, dishonesty in commerce, and monopolies. This fatal desire has its has its origin in the very nature of man…in that primitive, universal and insuppressible instinct that impels him to satisfy his desires with the least possible pain.” Fredrick Bastiat, 1848

Soul is angry because what needs to happen for america to right itself was just lost. Now we have to wait for the next crisis, which should not be long… when change is so near and then the chance is taken from you, it can be heartbreaking.
I am with ya soul. You know that. Me and you see eye to eye on this issue and both tried to get people to get involved. For the most part I think regular everyday people did do an amazing job opposing it all, but the fear tactics and the haste won in the end.. our representatives , all who knew this was not a great bill… gave into it. I am an independant, but I have to give it to the house republicans for holding to what is right, and the few dem’s who also stayed strong.
The founding fathers are probably turning in their graves. In my opinion, congress just gave enough rope to the american people to hang themselves, and with the loss in jobs, income, and savings, the people will take what they can to get by using more and more credit and in turn that will just worsen the overall economy because we simply cannot afford it.
I feel for you soul, I really do. Just keep that energy, cause we will need it soon.
Soul, I only reply to posts I feel are worthy. I wish posts like yours were more common on help.com than they are. All Americans should be up in arms over what is happening right now. Actually, they should have been alarmed long ago. What I worry about most is that so many young people don’t seem to have any fight in them. They need to be stired to action, like my generation was during the 1960s. There was blood in the streets then too and those were dangerous times, as well. There is safety and power when like-minded people fight together, though. I only hope that the young people in the country now are strong enough and smart enough to attack the problems that face us. America must survive because of how it was founded. To lose our country is beyond my imagination.

Your voice, your support is worth dieing for!
“The liberties of our Country, the freedom of our civil constitution are worth defending at all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair Inheritance from our worthy Ancestors: They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood; and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle; or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men. Of the latter we are in most danger at present: Let us contemplate our forefathers and posterity; and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter…Instead of sitting down satisfied with the efforts we have we have already made, which is the wish of our enemies, the necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude and perseverance. Let us remember, that, if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom. It is a very serious consideration, which should deeply impress our minds that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers in the event.”

America Under Attack!!!!!!!!!
We have been under assault. We risk losing our right of free expression, our right to own property, our rights of self defense and preservation, our rights to be governed from our states rather than a federal bureaucracy, and soon, if we do not prevail, our right to adequate representation in our own government. Even our history and that of our ancestors is under attack.
We will witness the military and economic power of this nation used against us at the will of a few, not the will of the People. We will be disarmed, disenfranchised, and taught to hate one another. We will be forced to believe that the U.S. Government, and not our Creator, is our caretaker and will demand complete control over our lives.
It is for this reason, that we cannot…we shall not surrender.
To our adversaries: We have seen your tactics, we know your strategy. And we fear that you have little or no plan to simply walk away. If it is war that you are planning, let it be known that you will not wage a war against the “unsuspecting.” You will name the stakes. You will fire the first shot. You will make the choice.
As you have made your positions known to your leaders, we have done likewise. But unlike you, we take orders from a Higher Power, and not from corrupt men. We are as prepared as we were at the end of last year. You have heard our demand. We want our country back. Make no mistake about it…we will and shall continue to use the soapbox, the ballot box, the jury box, and if left with no other choice, the other box you seek to take away from us. As many of us today stand in fear of what may become of us, we cannot and shall not prevail until each of us looks deep within ourselves, understands the crossroad at which we stand, looks our adversaries in the eye and says without reservation or hesitation…You will have to kill all of us.

My country, ’tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!
My native country, thee,
land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.
Let music swell the breeze,
and ring from all the trees sweet freedom’s song;
let all that breathe partake;
let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.
Our father’ God, to thee,
Author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom’s holy light;
protect us by Thy might, great God, our King.

Great God, where are we going? Long shot from this song!

“We’re Here to Help”…No, Thanks
I’ve been thinking so much about this bailout that it’s given me a headache. Should we…shouldn’t we? What if we do and then what if we don’t? The House votes again on the bill today, and I’m not sure whether I support the motion or not.
I’m still trying to get my mind around …And I’m tired of just lying down and letting them control my life.
I think it all came to a head last week as I traveled around the country… I had to check in at an airport four different times. That’s four airport ticketing agents, four times I had to check my luggage, and four times I had to grin and bear security.
As I prepared for my trip on Saturday night, I was already starting to worry.
Did I have confirmation of my flight and a valid picture ID? Was there anything in my suitcase that might be deemed “restricted”? Were all my carry-ons approved? Any liquids…sharp objects…embarrassing items that might be pulled out in front of everyone to see?
Ok - so far so good. As I drove into the airport, a police car was sitting near the entrance to the parking garage. It’s empty but it sits there as a warning - we’re watching you.
As I park, I do a double check - picture ID, no liquids, nothing sharp…am I at least two hours early just to make sure I can get through all the lines in time to get to my gate before they give up my seat?
So far so good…
As I find my airline I can already see that the line winds up and around so many times that it makes me dizzy. The two ticket agents are just a bundle of joy. They’ve been yelled at so much recently that they’ve turned into robots (and I can’t blame them).
But we’re all so nervous that we’ll be denied boarding that we don’t say much. We just shuffle along, credit card in hand to pay the excess baggage fees.
I complained to a ticket agent recently when I took a trip with my family. My flight was delayed, and now I was going to miss my connection and be stranded in Atlanta. Since all their other planes were overbooked, we’d have to spend two days there. Our luggage would not be available nor would they help us with hotel rooms.
They wouldn’t give me my money back so I could book on another airline. Suddenly, as I continued to ask them for a solution, airport security appeared. They just hung out five feet from our conversation - never said a word - just stood there. That was enough - I walked away from the counter as the ticket agent yelled, “NEXT!”
As much as I fly, I sure don’t want to be placed on that No Fly List.
Next I’m off to give my luggage to somebody standing behind a roped off area. I’m not sure if this is the right spot but I have to get to the security line so I leave it to chance. I drop off my luggage and downstairs I go.
All right - I have my ticket in hand, my ID is…oh, no. I had it just a second ago. Now I’m not sure where I put it. I know I need it sometimes but not others. I always feel like an idiot as I hand the first security person my boarding pass and ID and they say “Just your boarding pass.” Then on to the second as I hand them my boarding pass and they want my ID as well.
This part I really love - they take your license and flash a special light over it. Then look hard at your boarding pass. Now here it comes…they look up at me as I smile my most non-intimidating smile. Back down at my license, back up at me (still smiling) over to my boarding pass, back to my license one more glance up at me (still smiling) and then finally they scribble something on my boarding pass and let me move on.
Finally, I’m getting closer but here comes the really fun part.
“Remember,” I say to myself…”don’t look suspicious, just stay calm you’re almost there.” As I try to pick the fastest moving line, I’m already thinking about how to stay organized.
… I push my bags through, all six of them and then stand on the yellow line, smiling my best smile, waiting to be told to come through. As I walk through, the TSA agent asks for my boarding pass.
Well of course, for the hundredth time I can’t find it. I’ve found my license but where the heck is my boarding pass? Oh, there it is in bin number three. Back through the detector I go just to do this all over again.
Will they see something they don’t like? Will I register on some sensor or will my name pop up on some secret list? Do they know about my argument with the ticket agent in Atlanta over my delayed flight?
This is ridiculous.
How much freedom have we already given up? We march along like robots afraid we might be put on “the list.” And now our elected leaders are trying to tell us…
“We’re from the government and we’re here to help…If you don’t let us do this we’re all doomed.”
Well I don’t want any more of their help. Stay out of my banks, brokerages and mortgage companies. I’ll figure this out without you.
You have “helped” enough already…

about?
ok Liberals, the left and Barrack Hussein Obama same thing sorry.
might as well throw Nancy Polosi and some of those other schmucks up on the hill in that pile. They all just talk out of the side of their necks. But oh no were just clinging to our guns a religion boo hoo……
Hussein is a name of Arabic origin yes, but that dose not make it an
Islamic name. Millions of Catholics have the name Javier/Xavier which
is a name of Arabic origin. The Crusades have been over for a long time
in case you weren’t aware.
I’m of the Left, not the “Liberals” but the “LEFT”.
I would prefer to see the government take over the financial sector then
delegate the distribution of home loans to a decentralized network of non-profit
credit unions. The non-profit institutions would be far more trust worthy than
the current financial institutions which are overrun with white collar criminals.
I’m sure someone or two will disagree with my stance, oh well, I’m for the people
not the corporations.
And no, I’m not for Omaba, I don’t vote for Republicrats.
“Man can live and satisfy his wants only by ceaseless labor; by the ceaseless application of his faculties to natural resources. This process is the origin of property.
But it is also true that a man may live and satisfy his wants by seizing and consuming the products of the labor of others. This process is the origin of plunder.
Since man is naturally inclined to avoid pain…and since labor is pain in itself…it follows that men will resort to plunder whenever plunder is easier than work. History shows this quite clearly. And under these conditions, neither religion nor morality can stop it.”
Frederick Bastiat

China: we are invading Taiwan tomorrow.
US: No you cannot invade a sovereign democratic nation we will not stand back and allow such a thing to happen.
China: You owe us 7 trillion dollars and we are pulling the loan so pay up!
US: hmmm let me think…. go ahead and invade its ok.
no if the government takes over banks and all financial institutions you may as well go to Russia .communist Russia. Banks and financial institutions should be watched and regulated no more .If one bank goes bust bad luck for being to greedy, if 10 banks go bust Bad luck for being stupid and greedy. No bail out from the Government that is freedom of democracy….
btw folks 700 billion is just a small piece of what we owe overall and the rest havn’t come out of the closet yet! I thank God every day that I know Him because if this was all there was I’d be pretty depressed right about know!
The Soviet Union wasn’t a real Communist State, I’m sure they had Marx rolling
over in his grave as much as Bush has America’s founding fathers rolling in theirs.
The Soviets had State run Capitalism.
What’s really screwed up is that we will keep borrowing $$$ for Iraq even after
all this. The debt just keeps piling on.
“All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise not from defects in our constitution, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation.”
John Adams

outskirts, these philosophies and tactics are historically well known among the ruling class. Events unfolding before us today begin to make sense when these methods are considered.
