Do most people breathe through their mouth or nose?
I breathe mainly through my mouth but my friends are telling me its not normal. I tried looking online but can’t find any info. I can breathe through my nose if I make a conscious effort to but its really hard and I don’t get as much oxygen.

Normally people breathe through their nose. But there’s nothing that makes it any better or worse, so you shouldn’t worry about it.

Um, apparently there are. o.O I didn’t think there was a difference…

Most people breathe through their nose as it warms the air more efficiently before it gets to the lungs and the nostrils capture dirt, dust, pollen, etc. to prevent germs.
LOL sorry but I have to laugh at this, your friends are weird, weird for the fact that they are telling you that something you have done all your life is not normal, is there a normal way to breath? I think not lol, everyone does it and we have both a mouth and a nose so breathing through either or both is up to you, I think your friends really do need to find some better things to do with their time.
*Giggles.
But most people breathe through their nose. But i’m sure the mouth can do thesame so either way is okay. :)
It’s fine. But it sounds like you have allergies. You should get that checked out. A doctor might be able to help you breathe easier.
If you breathe through your nose, you’re less likely to catch a cold or illness as the hairs in your nose filter the air, and as Bogdan said, it warms the air a bit before getting to the lungs.
Besides, you get bad nose breath!
I breath through my nose. That is the way it is supposed to be done. For one, it allows you to circulate more oxygen through the rest of your body somehow. If you breath through your mouth it will stay localized in the chest area.
Oxygen has to go into the chest area, it is where the lungs are. You have confused me. Do you have a meaning I have missed?
It has to do with how the oxygen enters the lungs. When you breath through your mouth you don’t fill the lung capacity as well as breathing through the nose. Meaning that there is less oxygen and it kind of localizes in the chest area. Around the heart, lungs, etc.
Oh, I see what you mean. Like stomach breathing and diapragm breathing are better than lung breathing.
Wow, I learning something new today :)
breathing from mouth isnt normal, all we have has meaning to do some thing for us ,and nose we have ,not just for smelling things ,we have it as other friends said ,its better you go to doctor and let dr visit you ,it can makes other parts of your body work not well as they can work
I actually agree with that. When I’m not trying to, I breathe through my mouth…
Maybe your friends are only thinking that they breath through their nose because it is something you do conclusively, and they aren’t aware of breathing through their mouths…
just a theory though…
Breathing through the mouth is not normal, and it brings many problems such as facial changes, frequent illnesses/alergies, teeth misplacement, high blood pressure, neck and back pathologies, among others. Most times it occurs because of obstructions in the air pathways (i.e. because of enlarged adenoids). I’ve always breath through my mouth and, besides I have an ugly face, crooked teeth and I don’t speak like a normal person, I have scoliosis and high blood pressure even though I’m just 18.
One word people. Snotsicles. You try breathing through your nose in minus 20 (celcius) and below weather.
Shouldn’t you be wearing something over your face at that point?
