i have never really learned how to start a paper or where to put my thesis statement and i would like to know what a “first” paragraph should be like

I never start at the first paragraph. I always just start writing and forming my argument and then finally get where i need to go, and find my argument. I then make the first paragraph based on what else i’ve written.

Help me with: So my roommate’s friend from high school is a recovering drug addict.
