Day help: I know it’s my fault I’m in this situation, but what should I do? - Help.com

I know it’s my fault I’m in this situation, but what should I do?

I’ve missed by 8am communications class twice this semester. Unfortunately, one of the days I missed was a BIG day, where we were supposed to submit 6 articles and summaries of each. I didn’t know about this assignment, and I obviously wasn’t there to turn it in.

I’ve got that class tomorrow, and I’m sooo anxious and afraid about seeing the teacher. This whole disaster is my fault and I realize that. I also know I won’t be getting those missed points back. But I just don’t know what to say to him to help make the situation better…I don’t know how to communicate with my Communications teacher :|

well, if it comes down to it, drop the course and take it again next semester…
i’m sure if you talk it out and work hard for the rest of the year, and DON’T MISS ANY MORE CLASSES, you’ll be fine. :)

Isn’t it an irony that you are learning about communications and you still don’t know how to communicate with your communications teacher? But wait, you missed some classes? That may be the problem. You need to go talk to your teacher and tell him/her what happened or just drop the course and take it again next semester, just Regulus9 has suggested.

Unfortunately, it’s too late to drop the course…if I did, I’d have a withdrawal on my transcript and I’d only have a 12-credit load for this semester. I want to make the best of it, even though I have mucked it up so early on.

Tell the teacher you’re sorry and explain the whole sad story and ask for a way to make it up. You’d be surprised at how much grace some teachers are willing to give and what you can get if you just ask.

Do the assignment. Take it with you. Tell the teacher that you don’t expect to have the late assignment graded or counted in your final grade, but that you wanted to catch up with the other students. Ask if there is anything more that you should do to put yourself back on track. It is early in the term so give this class your best attention. Later, if it looks as though you will not have enough points to make a decent grage, ask if you can do an extra credit paper or speech. If I were in your shoes, I would try to meet with the teacher before he/she arrives to class. I have been known to wait in the parking lot to catch a teacher on the way to class, but I tend to go over the top when it comes to appologies.
