By helping others , i really hope to help myself.

it’s been a life-long problem of trying to find some missing pieces in my life, and helping others is one way.

Your rationale sounds a little selfish and makes your efforts to help somewhat shallow. You many want to consider helping people just for the joy of helping and not what it might do to make your own life better.

Well, personally I don’t help others to make me feel better about myself.
BUT… I do find that when I do help others, it has that effect, and I do feel better about myself!

well, helping others is not just to help myself, what I can say is that I really love helping others as it makes me feel better. That joy I feel about myself is what makes my life more worthwhile and happy, and that’s how it helps me, and that’s one of the reasons why I like to help people. Even if what I help with does not end up with the outcome I hope for (that is, no good ending but a bad one instead), at least I know I tried.

I understand completly, that you indeed will be helping yourself by the satisfaction you get inside, just knowing your remarks might actually be of help to others. Plus if you are depressed or whatever, you can see other’s replies and in that respect in turn be helped yourself.

Its like all important things in life, you can’t go at them straight on, you just find yourself there.

I you focus on how much good it will do for you when you help others, it won’t do you as much good.

I would rather focus on what my helping can do for others, and it’s best if it makes things better for them, that just makes my life feel a lot better to know I did something good for someone. :)

i dont see what you have to say in a shallow or negative way at all, we all need to help ourselves too! i often find my own answers in the advice i give to others. some people help and others dont, you do and thats what matters!
