hmmm…I just studied this so it’s pretty bad that I don’t know the answer. But I’m going to say because they wanted to extend their empire. not to mention the Mesopotamians had quite a few accomplishments and yeah…that’s all I got. sorry. good luck with the question though! lol! =]

I’m just guessing, but agricultural land and trade routes would be most likely. Nothing like food and/or money to motivate an invasion of another country…
