Really loud music coming from neighbors, please help?

The people in the apartment next to me play really loud, bass-heavy music late at night. It’s 11pm right now and I can feel the bass vibrating on my floor. I’m having trouble concentrating, sleeping…I’m just plain irritated.
I know the responsible, mature solution probably involves me going over there to talk to them about it, but I’ve got a little problem with confrontations. I’m pretty shy/timid, but I’m sick of this freaking noise. So…how can I casually–but effectively–ask them to turn the music down in a way that won’t make them turn it up just to spite me?

Or realize that learned people should know better than to play loud music in a complex. Call the cops. Don’t confront them yourself.

Police…although living in Boulder, I think it may be a common sort of occurrence….

And, if it is going on past 10 pm, they should have the sense to stop on their own.

We have a neighbor who plays Spanish music sooooo loud that you can hear it all around the neighborhood…..but they always turn it off around 8-9 pm. I hate it though, because it is loud, so I can hear it in my house, if my house is quiet, and it is not “my” kind of music….but since they always turn it off fairly early in the evening so my kids can sleep, I don’t bother them about it.

Most places have a sound curfew where you can’t play music after a certain time, so you have every right to call the police.

you have a right to low noise level after a certain time.
Just phone them and ask what time is it?
