I am 31 and have no idea how to make friends or have them…

.. It scares me.
I feel like a repellant freak…..

No offense, but you might have a mental disorder. Try seeing a psychiatrist- they help. I have a HUGE problem making friends too.

lol !!! I am a hardworking professional person with a partner and fairly good relationships with family colleagues and people I meet. I just don’t seem to beable to cross that ‘bridge to friendship with people’ I have a couple of old friends but haven’t been good at making new ones. I feel awkward, and poor at communicatiing.

If I have a mental disorder I would be surprised…..(in some ways!)

Ah. That’s what everyone tells me too… That I’m just ‘antisocial’. Jerkwads. But I have the same problems- I can make ‘friends’ and ‘accquaintences’ but I just can’t get close to people. I’m sure there’s a cure, but I’ve not found it yet… If I find it I’ll let you know! ^_^

Are you a people person? Be honest with yourself. I’m an introvert and really don’t have any great desire to be with people very often if at all…just my girlfriend is enough for me.

If you want to be around people but turning them off - I’d suggest listening, smiling, don’t be pushy or needy, smile and laugh often, be clean and if all else fails - ask people to be honest with you to find out what they don’t like about you.

Involve yourself in an activity where you share an interest, sports, cars, computers…

not being rude but ha ha i do have advice though when around people try and make conversation with whoever you are talking to and try to be interesting. thats how i make friends.
