Technical query regarding HDD partitioning and Playstation3.
I have installed a 320GB HDD in to my Playstation3 console. As usual the system has misread the size of the volume and given me 298GB to play with. I understand why this is and I’m not complaining as such. I was thinking though that if I did want to increase the size of the hard drive to it’s optimum level, I see that I can achieve this with a program like ‘Partition Magic’. However, if I remove the drive and format it using my PC then when I reinstall it in to the PS3 the process will be undone. If I installed Yellow Dog Linux on to the console (which I had planned to do anyway) can I install the program (not sure if it’s compatible), and format it from there? Is it possible to do so without wiping the Linux OS from the drive in the process?
I’m just having a hard time getting my head around it. Can anyone offer any practical information? It would be appreciated. Many thanks.
