Im in my first year of college, and I live an hour and a half away.

I go home about once a month for the weekend. Everytime I go back from a viset I feel depressed for about 3 days!!! I have made new friends, but I dont feel emotionally conected to them yet, like the friends at home that I love. It is amazing to go home, but i find myself almost not wanting to cause the “withdrawl”,for lack of better words, SUCKS!!

What is my problem? Does this happen to anyone else?

it’s normal to feel that way, but the more experiences and good times you have with your friends at college, the more connected you’ll start to feel. it’s still realllly early in the semester, so give it a little time and keep meeting new people too!

You may not be emotionally ready for living away from home yet. This is nothing to be ashamed of. When you’re truly ready, you’ll know it’s time. I recommend you move back home immediately and surround yourself with the people that love you. A lot of people take some time off before going to college.

Only you know what’s right for you, but i disagree with this response. Sometimes the best thing for us is to be out of our comfort zone. And I went through what you are feeling, and so did my brothers. And we came through with amazing friends and relationships from college. You’ve only been there for a month or so. You can’t try to compare your friends from home with your friends from college just yet. Give it more time and things will become more comfortable. Hope this eases your mind.
