depression help: Have you recovered? - Help.com

Have you recovered?

I see many people suffering from long term illnesses. Myself I have energo depression, anxiety, insomnia, and a new one to add to the list, panic disorder. I rarely meet anyone who has boasted of a full recovery so I was wondering who here can tell me they have recovered and what its been like?

I haven’t fully recovered.
Just thought I’d say that.

I’m in hospital right now as a result of my depression.
The doctors think this helps.
But having someone watching me every half hour to make sure I don’t kill myself really makes me feel better, not.

Sorry, just thought I’d let that out.
Your problem sounds a lot more important than mine.

How do you deal with all of that?

Thought I recovered, but then started having panic attacks again.

I agree…it is torture, definitely.
Believe you can get over it, that’s what I would say.
And don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.
You have to be strong.
:)
I know you can get through all this.
I believe in you.

i suffer from clinical depression, many other health issues that cause me to have to take medication for, i have a tumor that is inoperable and just had surgery to place screws and a plate in my neck….

sometimes its hard to deal with what we have to deal with.. but if you keep a positive look on things and laugh off the bad.. it makes it easier..

I haven’t recovered myself but I do know that two girls I met about 7 years ago when I was inpatient for my own little anxeity and eating issues:

One had been struggling with panic attacks/depression and boulimia for years; she was about 19 when we met - she worked very hard, but is now married, working part time and the last thing I heard about her was that she was pregnant.

The other was my best friend, she’d been struggling with depression/social phobia since she was about 8yo, before she was 12 she’d been labeled with anorexia, by the time I met her she was 18. Over the past 7 years I’ve seen her change from not being able to use a phone/go on a bus/go to church to someone who has improved so much she now can do some volunteer work and she’s (reasonably) happy - not in therapy anymore but she has people that help her.

For me, not much change but some, at the moment I’m just trying very hard be more positive, to stay alive and get back into treatment with the hope that maybe this time I’ll resolve some issues.
