I do not think most people who want to end there life’s think they are going to a better place like a heaven. I think they just want to end their pain and do not look past that. I think if they believe in a heaven, they also believe in hell. An most people with those believes would think they are going to hell if they kill themselves.

Karl Marx said “religion is the opiate of the masses” and he wasn’t far wrong.

I think people become so obsessed with it that it alters their mind. I know so many “Christians” who go to church regularly etc, but hit their kids, swear, are total hypocrites, but they feel good about themselves, and are somehow morally superior to the rest of us.

I know the world is big, it’s bad and it’s ugly. The true joys are in the little things. If we think about the entire world and it’s problems, we can become overawed, and depressed.
Think small! You’ll be better off for it.

Anyway, that’s my opinion.

We live in the 21st century. We need to grow up!
Here are some misconceptions about religion:

1. Without religion, you can’t have morals. False - morals come from ourselves and human interaction, not from religion.

2. Religion has saved many lives. True, but a white lie - it has destroyed and killed many more.

3. Religion is the best way to find peace. False - I know a lot of people who are very frustrated because of religion. The happiest people are the non-religious.

4. You can’t have faith without religion. False - you can believe what you want, but once you try to convert others, you get organized religion. I am an Atheist, but I have nothing against those who aren’t and keep to themselves.

5. Atheists haven’t done anything good. False - Bill Gates doesn’t have a religion, and look what he’s done.

Have you had depression? People who commit suicide are not thinking right. Their brains and not functioning right. They are in such mental anguish that they just want it to end. Simple as that. They can not see past their pain to get help. Their minds block out the good in their lifes. They just can not see it. Their brain locks on the negative things in life. And turns even good things in to negative. Like your friend leaving behind children. She did not see that her children would suffer without her. She thought she was doing them a favor by getting herself out of their lives. She felt so miserable about herself, that she could not see any use for herself in her children’s lives. She felt her being here would do more harm then good. We know that is not true. But she could not see the truth.

I think the best way to help someone who is suicidal is to let them know what is happening to them is a physical illness that can be helped. Like diabetes. A illness that can be stabilized with treatment. Same with being suicidal, it can be stabilized with treatment and even cured over time with continued help and support.

We need to take away the stigma of mental health and just view it as we would health for the rest of our body.

I am a spiritual person, maybe religious, depending of your views of religious. But I would a say my spiritual beliefs help me more then hinder me.

Some might have that delusion, but I do not think it plays a part for the majority of people. There was one help.com user who committed suicide and I would say he had unhealthy religious views and that his religious delusions could have played a part of why he committed suicide.

I agree that you do not have religious beliefs in order to be a good person or have good morals and values.

i personally think 50% of these suicidal people are trying to escape this life to get into the next
due to decievement.

i know we all need something to believe in, otherwise whats the point!!
i know this,we all have this mental picture of peace&tranquility
seeing our relatives etc
thats another thing people commit suicide so they can be with their loved ones
again……decievement!
no one truly knows what lies at the end of life
you can make it how you want it to be
my arguement tho is people dont kill yourself cos you think youll have a better life on the other side
think carefully what your actions will be if you want to end your life in order to get a better one
then look closer to home :)
