Worse in what way? People are as helpful as ever but there seems to be a lot more people that come just to get themselve banned?

i personally believe that it has gotten worse.. although we have mods trying to take care of the situation… they just seem to be unstoppable.. something should be done, a better way of logging on that is more secure…

not sure more mods would fix the problem…

but with who ever built this website should actually look into fixing the registration part… making it more secure.. because of the fact that if someone gets banned, all they do is go to a proxy and come right back… to start all over again…

but that is why there should be a warning in the beginning so that the user would know what they did wrong so that they can fix it..

I’m knew so can’t comment on here. However, I had created and organised some very well run forums myself in the past.

Maybe if you removed the “anon” feature it would stop some of the stupid made up stories that people throw in there. People can be be anonymous with having their nickname anyway.

and you are right.. however… anon is for people who have something embarrassing or even something that they dont want to get found out about…

i believe that the anon is a good thing… however, maybe those who are new.. shouldnt be allowed to use it or change their names until they prove themselves.. idk

I’ve been on Help for more than a year and it seems like it’s gotten worse. There are way more trolls, the HTML doesn’t work really, and several really nice long-term users have left more recently. Also, we have this random problem of people seeming to get banned for no reason.

I also know from experience that it doesn’t make sense to even try talking about change on this site because people get all up in arms about it… Like if you suggest that Help needs some changes, you absolutely hate the site and the people on it. Whatever.

Its just that every now and then we get a new user here that wants to change everything. I see no point at all in this. Yes this site has problems but I feel thats what makes it human.

See the key mistake there is that you said “change everything.” That’s a dead giveaway that you are probably just scared of changes period on Help.com. No one said anything about changing EVERYTHING. Just fixing the problems that exist right now.

Btw, new users and old recognize that this site has flaws. Even an old admin came back suggesting his idea for the site, so… Yeah.

Very mature of you. Precisely why we can’t have an adult discussion about this.

have come across a lot of these trolls and report them, but I still come acros more people that do want to help. They don’t seem to use anon they seem to just keep opening new accounts whenever they are banned, they are just bored and I don’t think there is much that can be done about it. More MODs may help lighten the jobs of the existing mods?

Any forum is going to get people mucking about within. It’s just part of the internet. So it’s hoped that the worst of them can get deleted asap. I’m curious though, who’s moderators? Does it show under their name or something? I haven’t noticed - but then I haven’t been looking either.
