Money help: College… - Help.com

College…

I’m attending college right now and have been unemployed and looking for a job for quite a while. Even the jobs through the university have tons of competition so it isn’t working out… by the end of this quarter i will have 0 money left to study. This doesn’t really bother me though…
I really hate the idea of attending classes with people that all seem the same and having a high stress level. It seems to me like college is the only escape from “America” but I’m getting tired of the game. I’m also getting tired of the same people that seem to ask the same questions everyday for what seems like no reason or motive. The question is then, would it be wise to work for a year and try to come back to college? Has anyone ever been in the same situation??

If they all seem the same, you’re not looking closely enough. Or maybe you’re looking at a really small group of them.

What is it that you’re trying to escape? And what game tires you?

college is the last time everything you need will be gathered into one place for you. you’d have to be pretty naive to waste it with such arbitrary and ill-founded disdain.

sorry, and to answer your question:

what you get out of college depends entirely on you. if you don’t think you can be genuinely interested and stimulated by the college environment, then yes, working for a year might give you the perspective you need to make the most out of school.

however, finishing school > not finishing school. no exceptions. so, be careful that you don’t build a barrier (between yourself and a degree) that would stop you from returning.
