Alright, just an idea…

I just realized how many identical posts are being sent each day. It’s not a problem if it’s personal, because personal issues need personal interest. But people sometime choose the easy path on regular issues (like how to bla bla a friendster account etc., or about their homeworks. etc.) Well, I blame the lack of curiosity and inquisitiveness as they may find the answer easily if they use the search function..

An idea just popped into my mind about this: as people don’t know how to search (on the net, or inside help.com) is there a way to direct people to matching tags before they send their posts? (like a page between the “preview page” and post-it” page that says : “have you seen these posts which might have an answer to your question…” …)
Just asking…

Best..

Problems with Myspace.com, Friendster or Bebo.com?

Generally speaking, if you are having issues with those sites it is best to contact their support staff directly. These links can get you started:

Myspace Support, Friendster Support and Bebo Support

If you are trying to access these services from your school and are blocked, we suggest you abide by the schools rules while you utilize the schools equipment.

Hmmm.
This is interesting however the new re-design for the site is fully under way and the new things that are going to be implemented have been decided on I think.
And also I think that searching Google and the rest of help.com is not really what some people want.
Google returns some odd things sometimes and not really what you want and help.com is live and can have specific questions.
Like wise with the older help.com posts

acknowledging what sam said about new features having already been chosen..

i agree with ludicer. however, i think the redundant posting is most problematic in cases that are actual recurring topics of debate. like Religion vs Other Religion.

it would be pretty helpful/fun from a user interaction point of view/technically leet if you guys attempted to identify heavily debated issues. threads about these issues might have similar tags and exhibit specific traits (like replies containing longer than avg paragraphs or more questions than normal).

natural language processing can do a lot more for your site than just the HelpBot.

Well, about the debate thing. I guess you are right. I thought that when I was opening the post. Then I thought that some people just want to debate about heavy stuff, instead of reading them.. You know, humand-kind has debated on those topics for ages… So I just skipped to add that.. Don’t know what to say now though…

Well, about the odd search results. Well, it won’t matter, if people have a choice to proceed without looking at the posts, just see them. Unless you are talking about odd, like really odd… But that has no importance since you’re working on a new site structure…

Natural language processing.. Wow… that’s a great idea… It may provide a bot with much more precision and variety… (I can’t even imagine what that will add to this site… Yet, still might be over reacting: I’ve been giving alot of my thoughts to AI structures and verbal bot programming these days.)
