Uhm, calling english boffins, and anyone else who wants to help
It seems that I can’t make decisions by myself. This is my 3rd post about my English Creative Writing coursework. But this coursework is important so I guess I need all the help that I can get. (Whilst on the topic, thank you SO much for all the replies to the previous posts!)
The problem this time is when writing speech, if its the same person speaking then do I have to start a new paragraph? For example this is what I have

“Ma,” I started, “can I go to Peter’s again tomorrow?”
Mother looked at me; pain flickered around her green leafed eyes.
“Not tomorrow, James. We’re going out tomorrow.” She smiled at me hesitantly. Even as a child I knew it was all wrong on her lined face. I looked up at my mother’s face. Her cherry red hair was wild with rage. A green bandana kept it all tamed, but barely. Mother’s signature blue fulgurous earrings were missing, hidden away. “Go on to bed now.”
I tried being clever and raised one eyebrow like I’d seen father do.
“Okay, Ma.” I stood up shakily. My legs had fallen asleep.

I’m talking about the middle paragraph (ze biggest one…) because my teacher underlined it and put something like “start new paragraph and indent” and I was like “Wha-?”
