Running speaker wire along baseboard heating pipes.

I want to run speaker wire through my basement using the same holes the baseboard heat pipes use, so I don’t have to drill new ones in the floor.

Is it safe to do this? Do these pipes get hot enough to melt the wire?

It depends on how hot the pipes get. Cut a short piece of the wire and tie it to one of the pipes for a while and see if it melts.

I did this last winter with CAT 5 and CAT 3 and had no problems. The water in my house is about 160 at the hottest. Thats scalding. I have hand no issue.
