Hey lero take it easy. Nobody here has said anything bad about Russians. We are just talking about what people have said in the past. I respect Russia’s accomplishments in art and science. Sputnik and the periodic table by Mendeleyev are two big ones.
I have studied the second world war so I know that it was mostly the Russians who defeated the Nazis. Thanks for that.

I”ve heard nothing except Ruskie and it dosn’t sound abusive, but rather familiarizingly shortened. It by no means can be compared with “******” (Afro-Amer.), “dago” (Italian-Amer.), “gook” (Southeast Asia?) or “kangaroo” (Australian). Besides it’s closer to the way the Russian call themselves: Copmare “I am a Russian” “Ya russkiy”. “Ruskie” sounds much closer to the oridinal than this “Russian” [”Rahshsheeahn”]. As for this German “Untermensch” it’s the opposite to “Ubermensch”, i.e. a superman. Underdog? And the Nazis called that name all peoples whom they considered non-Arian - that’s the vast majority of the humankind. Finally, Russia’s neighbors do have some not quite polite nicknames for the Russian, but they would sound meaningless if used by the British, Americans and the other English speakers. It would just seem hilariously funny if a bearded Hindu called a Russian “Katzap”, which some Ukrainians began using a few centuries ago to stress that most of the Russians were bearded as different from the Ukrainians who usually had only long moustaches. Does anybody know a mean word for an Irishman in Indonesian language? )))
