World Leadership Forum family/friends letter
DATE
Dear Help,
I was recently recommended and accepted to participate as a student leader in the People to People World Leadership Forum in China, this summer. The objective of the program is to develop leadership skills among America’s youth while exploring defining moments in American history. The 17-day experience includes discussing leadership in action at such venues as Chicanes, Buddha, and discovering the Great Wall of China, and many more.
I am currently asking my family and friends for financial sponsorship to help me with tuition, and I hope I can count on your support. President Dwight D. Eisenhower founded People to People in 1956. He believed that if people from different cultures could come together in peace and friendship, so eventually would nations.
People to People student leaders are carefully evaluated before their acceptance into the program. I am excited to share my experience with my peers, family, and friends when I return. As a student leader I can earn high school credit because of the many educational elements in my program.
The program tuition is [5,399], which includes meals, transportation, accommodations, and educational activities. I am asking [100] people to donate [$1000] to help me reach my goal. Is it possible for you to assist me by making a contribution? I plan to share my experience with friends and family when I return by presenting my journal and photographs.
My program tuition is due [3-07]. Checks may be made payable to People to People and forwarded to me in the enclosed, self-addressed envelope. Your generous contribution would enable me to share in this wonderful opportunity. Thank you in advance for your gracious consideration and support.
Sincerely yours,
Nuwoh Corlon
Student Leader
