I’m gonna try to make friends with this kid.
If you’ve read my other posts, who’d know who I’m talking about.
He used to talked to me when I rode the same bus as him every day. Once I moved out of the neighborhood, I would see him in the hallways at school and gradually we stopped staying in touch. A year went by, and he ended up in my class by coincidence, and now I see him every day. He’d whisper my name and make little jokes, but I was too afraid to respond in fear that once I start being myself, he’ll loose interest in making friends.
We’d go through these phases; lulls of silence between us and the other is talking, then we’d switch off (I talk he’s non responsive, he talks I’m non responsive) and it would be hard to tell if he was shy like me or just politely ignoring me. But, after lots of thinking and re thinking, I realize the only way I can find out is if I keep talking and talking and talking until it becomes clear one way or the other, through the lulls we might have until he either starts talking to me again or stops talking all together. It’s the only chance I have at making friends with him, and if it doesn’t work out, then I’ll know that I tried and that it wasn’t meant to be.
Wish me luck.
