Group Project: Beading Bee
The next time you get your posse together for some quality craft-time, have a Beading Bee. This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with a group of souls who love the sparkly-things. You can do this one with any size group — the more the merrier.
Each person needs to bring fifty beads to share — preferably a good assortment of different sizes and colors, and preferably something nice — no plastic pony beads. When everyone arrives, you have them pile all these beads together on tray or in a big, shallow bowl — something or other that will prevent them from rolling away and getting lost. After you’re all done being dazzled by all that shiny bead-bounty, then each person selects fifty beads from the pile. And then, each person makes something from the fifty beads they selected.
There are tons of possibilities — you can always make stretchy bracelets, or string a neclkace, or you can sew them to a jacket or handbag. You can also glue the beads to things, like hair clips or boxes. It’s really fun to see what each person comes up with.
