If we could shrink the world down into a village of exactly 100 people then it would look like this.

There would be:

57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 from the Western Hemisphere both North and South (North + South America and Oceania i’m guessing)
8 Africans

52 would be femae
48 would be male

70 would be non-white
30 would be white

70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian

89 would be heterosexual
11 would be homosexual

6 people would posses 59% of the entire world’s worth and all 6 would be American (I doubt that one)

80 would live in substandard housing

70 would be unable to read

50 would suffer from malnutrition

1 would be near death; 1 would be near birth

Only 1 would have a college education

1 would own a computer

I got it off a website which proved that it was false because it was proved that only 3 would come from N. America or something (which means that 4 Americans can’t own that much of the world’s worth.)

But i just posted it because i thought it was pretty incredible anyway. I can imagine that village. :)

Now come on, lets be realistic. If there were only 100 people left in the world I’m pretty sure we could spring for a few computers for everyone :P

Um, it seems like you’ve merely taken previous percentages and broken it down into numbers of people, correct?
1 person in mini-civilization = 1% of people in real world/civilization.

I think there would be more than 8 Africans.

Here is the site that actually works it out and proves that it’s false.

See, this would really need to factor in all of the lesbians, gays, and bisexuals to be anywhere near accurate. From what I’ve seen, it’s about 20% of everyone I’ve ever met. But then, a lot of them pretend to be straight in public, and many people are in the closet. I think people would be surprised at how many “homos” there are out in the world.

If those 100 people were from Help.com, I’d like that list.

One would be a mod.

There would be no Admins.

5 would be unable to write proper English

10 would be trying to convert everyone else.

3 would be spammers.

12 would be trolls.

6 would be Ancients.

50 would be under 15.

99 would be dirt poor.

100 would have problems.

“80 would live in substandard housing”

substandard?

inferring a universally accepted standard house. LOL

that was a good read.

And this was given out at schools? People paid to educate our children just propergate lies as much as everyone else.

TO all the kids out there that has reasoned that they know more than your teachers, realise it is very likely true.
