My first poem in YEARS!
My daughter is going on her first trip. She will be turning 10 during her first excursion away with her school. I wanted to do something special for her so I pulled out my scrapbooking gear and made a beautiful card, now what to write? I havnt written a poem since I was 14 myself, so its a round of firsts this week, my daughters first excursion, first birthday without her parents, not to mention its the big ‘double digit’ birthday and my first poem…anyway I wanted to share it with my friends here before I hand it too the teacher to give to her on her Birthday (hope teacher doesnt mark it, lol)
Its a big 10th Birthday this year
And on your special day
You spread your little wings
And fly beyond the rain
As i watch you grow with pride
From deep down inside
Your beauty strikes my eye
Dear daughter let it shine
