Ok so you argue to me for it and I’ll argue against it. That way, you’ll get a better understanding on the other side’s points, and therefore be able to address them. Also, you’ll get some ideas for arguments against it . . . good?

Well, I am against uniforms for a number of reasons.

1. Most superficially, it’s just bad for the school. By imposing uniforms, a reputation of confinement is established and kids no longer wish to attend this school in such vast numbers. Less kids = less money = bad idea.

2. A uniform is simply a PITA to deal with, you have to have it crisp and neat every day and, if they want to fix this by having a double set, you’re starting to hemorrhage money.

3. The most overused but true point is that uniforms remove diversity from the environment. Feelings become not only frowned upon physically, but in suit mentally as well. Without a sense of individuality, children, teens especially, feel ever more temped to let that creativity out. If no simple outlet like freedom of dress is available, this release may not be pretty. Just the concept lulls learning as well. With so much uniformity (it fits okay?) the mind begins to degenerate, and utter lack of stimulation curbs education. A constant sensory stimulus helps us stay functioning properly, and one of the easiest ways to accelerate this is to allow a mash-up of colors and random designs.

4. This goes without saying, but do we really need one more thing to remorse over?

There are a few points. Probably not perfect, but these statements are at least decently objective.

First, determine what size you want.

Next, list the Pro’s and Con’s of having uniforms.

Finally, depending on what side you are, rebuttal the other side’s argument (or their Pro) by contradicting it with evidence all the while strengthening your own.

Pros of uniforms

1. If you have to express yourself by your clothes, you probably dont have anything worth expressing. It should be how you act and what you have to say that determines who you are.

2. Families with lower income dont have to compete with children who get all brand name clothes and who are wealthier.

3. Kids social standing should be based on individual character and personality and less on their economic status.

4. Uniforms make it easier to identify those who are not from the school , thus increasing security and safety.

5. Students wouldnt be embarrased or harrased about what they are wearing.

6. Sense of belonging to your school, “School Pride!!”

7. there are no “bodily” distractions with a school uniform.

8. It is significantly easier to dress yourself in the morning.

1.Some people dont know any other way to express themselves.
2.I cant argue with that one
3.That was restating number two
4.That depends-someone could easily get ahold of a school uniform by saying they were a new student
5.You thin they wouldnt get harrassed because they wore it a certain way? kids are cruel
6.some people dont want to have school pride, and if they do, it shouldnt be forced on those who dont
7.not necessarily, who’s to say it would be worn correctly at all times?
8.honestly, getting dressed isnt that hard to begin with
sorry i took so long, but i have to go to bed now. thanks!

Sure, no prob. Sorry the list was short and not descriptive but I’m also doing MY homework (6 page paper UGGGHHHH) so I couldn’t delve too much time into this.

Be sure you have someone proof your essay for grammar. Not everything can be caught on spellcheck. Like, it’s WHERE I have to convince….

Anyway, I actually wrote an essay like this when I was in high school. I was in Catholic school and at the time against uniforms. Now, I guess I just don’t care! So here are a few pros and cons:

PRO:

You don’t have to think about buying a lot of expensive clothes or figuring out what to wear every day.

Your school gets an identity when students wear a uniform.

It usually looks nice and neat to the casual observer.

CON:

Unless your school voted for this, you don’t get a say in how you are dressing every single school day and that can be annoying or even depressing. You might have the way your uniform looks but you have to wear it anyway.

You don’t have to compete with wealthier people if everyone wears a uniform, but hye, you are going to have to deal with not having as much money as some other people once you graduate, so you might as well start coping with it now. It’s life.

The main thing is, just figure out what you think about it and be honest; write your essay as if you are writing a letter to a friend and everything will be okay. There is no wrong or right answer here; it’s just about expressing what you think. Have fun!
