DayCare Fears: Am I right to worry myself so much?

My mother tells me that I dont have to worry, but I am and I cant help it. On Monday, my Connor will be going to Daycare while I go to school. I am scared because all I have herd about daycares is the molesting and kids getting abused, on top of that I have EXTREME trust isues now because of my last babysitter not doing her job and leaving my son in a diaper when he is potty training and a father who wants nothing more to do with his (my) son. I am scared out of my mind, and I cant even talk with my mother without feeling like her life was so much worse than mine. Please help me. Please help me put my fears to rest that my son will be okay and be cared for the way I know he deserves.

Thanks guys, Help.com Woot Woot!

im pretty sure every mother worries about this at some point but look around and try to find a popular daycare.. one that peole trust. theres a much MUCH bigger chance it’ll be a good daycare rather than a bad one.

Aw, Washuchan don’t worry, be happy.
I think this is something that every parent go through.

You said this daycare sounds good, I’m sure you don’t have to worry about it so much.
Connor will be fine, and he will make new friends, which will be very fun of course.
I think he will like it.
:]

Ikari-kun, you wouldnt believe me, but I have Bob Marly’s version on my ipod. lol! Its so totally my life too. My last apartment, RentaCenter came and took my bed, then I was kicked out for nonpayment of rent. lol!

I dont know why but it does scare me alot. like, suicide scary, accident scary, and so on.

Try asking parents who have, or have had, children in this program.

I cant… I have no friends or anything.. that and its a short notice problem. I have to put him in daycare Monday or risk not going to class and loosing my financial aid.

Read reviews of the school online. Look it up on Google maps, the marker on the map will have reviews of the place.

It’s the feeling every parent goes through when leaving their child in care away from home. It’s perfectly normal to feel this way, and by the sounds of it, you’ve made a GREAT choice of place. I’m sure everything will be fine, and he’ll come how with smiles and you’ll be filled with relief and questions of “what was I so worried about?”

It’s an angst EVERY parent goes through with their children, you’ll feel it when he goes to school the first day too. But it’s all for the best, I assure you, and there’s nothing for you to worry about.

News about any bad things happening in any setting such as a daycare center can be detrimental to the whole group.
But think about a disaster like an airplane crash. You only hear the bad news. You never hear about the 1000’s of flights that landed successfully. True?

Your welcome sweetie. and yes it has been a while. i seen it was you and had to come. Especially anything that involves children. love kids :D ……….give your worries a time limit. say 10 min or so. if you havent achieved an answer or thoughts of ‘the worst’ happening then stop and do something to get your mind off it, and go back to it late if you feel the need.

Legitimate daycare centers have to be inspected every year and renew their license. If you don’t see a license, ask to see it and check to make sure it is up to date. If not, alert the authorities. Ask to see the inspection report also to see what things they had to fix, if any. This is a public record and they are required to show it to people that ask to see it.

::hugs:: Thankies Felicity. I will do that. My mom made the call to the daycare so I have to wait till she comes home to get the name of the daycare, though I was there when she called them.
