Talking & Listening :: Questions & Answers — What’s Important?

Listening is important, but so is talking (of course! otherwise listening would be impossible ;)

The way the Internet is set up today, some people write something — and then other people respond.

It is quite rare for a RESPONSE to be on “equal footing” with the POST. I blogged about that today (thinking a little bit about why the Internet may have become that way ( http://gaggle.info/post/101/groundswell-revisited-most-popular-most-visited -most-valuable )… — something about it seems wrong: It simply shouldn’t be a new start every time (without any connection to what has gone before).

There are some sites where this “equal footing” is kinda beginning to happen — but still: there seems to be a special case for “here & now” — a sort of “stream of consciousness” makes anything happening RIGHT NOW more important than something that happened yesterday or last week (not sure, but it almost seems like tomorrow is worth even more than today).

People want to talk, because talking is something that’s happening NOW.

But to me, the whole thing seems like a garbage dump: always growing — but you don’t ever see or pay attention to the mound of garbage, you just see the garbage truck drive past the window and haul it all away.

Nothing lasts… — or is that: Nothings gonna change… (?)

We are a divided species..some cannot wrap their brains around anything but NOW while others are so entangled in was and will be that NOW is non-existent. Internet = instant gratification of the NOW impulse so it’s content would naturally reflect that sector of the species.
