i’m f*cked

i have this stupid anxiety disorder [social anxiety i guess], and when i try to get the people around me to understand it, they tell me not to “label” myself. Oh well, i give up on trying to get people around me to understand what it’s like. And that’s not even my biggest problem, my parents are going to kick me out unless i go to college tomorrow. I dunno, what to do. I really need to go to college now, because i don’t have any other place to go if my parents kick me out? what do i do and how can i make myself go when i feel terribly nervous.

everyone feels nervous but you need to pluck up your courage and go. just take a good friend with you or even a childhood toy if it helps. No one needs to know you have it. The only way you’re going to get over this is to get the courage to do it yourself.

well, from the way i see it, you have no other choice, so you might as well just do your best to calm down.

I went to college while having been diagnosed with panic attacks and anxiety disorders. I talked to my professors and even an academic adviser who were all more than willing to work with me so I could do the very best I could.

I would definitely go to college and get the best education you possibly can.

i used to get really worried about going out and have panic attacks, i would get to the door and feel i couldnt breathe, nobody understood, people thought i was putting it on for attention but i wasnt i really felt affraid. I want to see a therapist she showed me breathing techniques to calm down, itssimple take a deep breath in through your nose hold it a few seconds then breath out very slowly, repeat until you feel calmer. I also have a tiny rag doll, timmy, he comes out with me in my bag hidden so no one can see him but i know he is there and it sounds silly but it really makes me feel safe and more confident knowing i have a friend in my bag. good luck its not gonna be easy but you will get stronger. take care

calm down and relax anxiety issues are not the end of the world. also dont rush to tell everyone that you have an issue. Not everyone needs to know whats going on. You sound like your more afraid of the fact you have the issue not that the issue is causing the problem. Just relax and be your self at college. If that is where you want to be if not find a job. I am asuming you are around 19 years old and for the first time in your life your lost and dont really know what your doing. and like many of us used to society we are used to being told what to do our whole life until this point. But it will be okay. talk to the counselors at the college and find out if there is support groups for people with anxiety that way you can find some friends who understand what is going on and maybe learn some new things about your self. i am here anytime to talk to you if you need me

My parent threatened me with the same thing two years ago, “go to college or get out” well i went to college and it really helped with anxiety of being around complete strangers. Helped me to be able to cope with the pressures of having to even talk to someone or sit next to someone I had never meet in my life. I started out sitting in the back of the class avoiding eveyone, and everything, a year later i was able to sit close to the front and engage in normal conversation. So I say go to college it is actually great therapy for social anxiety i was also seeing a therapist at the time that helped me deal with the anxiety. Good luck
