Every body out there who is voting obama because he is black
I bet you all love MLK which i do to. But just remeber these words in his I have a dream speech
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
I don’t know anyone who is voting for him because he is black. This is an ignorant post. It is crazy to believe that he will win because he is black.
MLK would be so proud of the U.S. in that we are finally at a point where we will elect someone based on character and intellect, not color.
I know alot of people that are voting for him because he’s black. Pay attention to current events much? apparantly not
I’m not sure I follow what you are trying to say here. Are you actually suggesting that people are voting for Obama only because he is black?
I suppose it could be true for some subset of people, but there are actually many other reasons people are voting Obama.
im just going towards that group of people
I watch the news at least 2 hours a day, so yes and as I mentioned earlier I am a History teacher. There has been no one mentioned on the news who is voting for Obama because he is black.

Why not target the people who are not voting for him because he is black, since that is a much larger and more ignorant group!
i think he has tremendous character and charisma, much better than John McCain.

What!! You must not know a lot of black ppl. Most of them are ONLY voting for him because he is black. They see it as “finally a black man who can be president” not can this man really run this country. Or do what he say he is going to do.
You just called the majority of black people ignorant. Don’t you think black people are intelligent enough to choose a president based on character and qualifications? Are you racist? I am white and female, but I don’t support McCain and didn’t support Hilary, hmmmmm, I wonder why, oh yeah because race and gender don’t determine a good president. The majority of Obama supporters are WHITE! I know plenty of black people. I also know tons of Hispanics, Asians and Whites who LOVE Obama! You are ignorant!
My neighbor is voting for him mainly because he wants the first black president….yet i say have someone who is more qualified that can do an IMPECIBLE job as president to throw all sterotypes of african americans out the window. Im afraind if obama does become president and fails it will only make the racist blame it on his color….so i say vote for the man only if you feel that he can do a great job…unfortunatly i dont think he will…. i just dont think he has enough experience….and yes i may not like palin to much but i would rather have a president with experience and a vp with none then a pres with no experience and a vp with some.
Ummm well i am black so i would know lol. I told my friends and family that i was not going to vote for obama and they are pinned me to the cross. If he was not black they wouldnt have cared as much.
And you guys think the crazy white man will do a better job? Really!! Have you been awake the last couple of months?
Who said i voted for mccain LOL… i find you rather amusing
Maximina wrote:

that sounds like a racist statement to me…maybe you should say Mccain and not the white man….
I mean last i checked there were “three” candidates on the ballot not two……..

So you have determined that most of your own race is not intelligent enought to pick a good President. Wow! That is pretty sad. You have every right to vote the way you choose, but don’t judge millions of people because of some that you know.
Yes but isn’t that why half people vote anyway?
only a few people are concerned with politics, I would say more than half of people consider, race, gender, family background etc.
There are people who will vote for Hilary because she’s a woman etc. Its human nature.
No matter who’s up there, there is going to be reasons for and against each, that will include race and gender and personal similarities to that person. If you feel you can identify with someone then you are bound to go with them.
If I said I would identify with a white young adult female, that would make me human and that is just part of our conformaties and psychologies. It doesn’t make me racist.

I pointed out he was white, because clearly there maybe a few of you who think the “white” guy is more qualified, when in fact he has shown extreme mental instability and lack of judgement in the last few months.
Wow ok let me rephrase what i said, “Most of the black people i know are only voting for him because he is black.” They are smittened by his wit and humor but im not. Just because you can move a crowd does not mean you will be a good president. Hes a great enteratainer ill give him that much. But we will see what happens soon or later. Whoever wins….

actually there is a ton more…i got my early mail in ballot and there was atleast 10 different parties to vote for

Agreed, it is not Maximina who has been racist in this post, it has been the people who have automatically assumed black people play the role of someone with lower credability.

yes i agree but he is stooping to their level by using phrases like that….
No one should vote for Obama because he’s black or Mccain because he’s running with a woman. Now is it me or is this offensive: I read a headline on MSN.com when hilary clinton was still a contender that said “Black female voters face tough decision!” Is it just me? Is that offensive or am i touchy? Seriously?

Sorry I don’t agree, there was nothing offensive about the comment she used. She implied he is white, which he is. But she didn’t suggest there was a problem with actually being white.
Theres a line we have to draw, we can be laid back or we can just make any word that describes a colour illegal?

im sorry but she stated “the crazy white man” i find that offensive! it would be one thing if she just said white man but she the way she worded it is that he is crazy becuase he is white
difference of opinion i suppose
I just cant wait for this election to be over with because no matter who wins i doubt if any of them will actually change anything… Talk is cheat and we wont know what kind of presidents either candidates will be. So how about everyone just vote for who they want to see in office and shut the f**k up… Sorry for the language but this is rather irritating.
Ppl are arguing like they are psychics and know how well one candidate will do compared to the other. The fact is no one really knows and no one will know til about 1 or 2 years from now.

agreed im so sick of all the stupid commercials slamming each other….jsut vote for who you want and dont degrade others for their choice!
Yes but he is crazy?
Maybe i’m bias, I’ve seen max around this site for a very long time now and I know she is very knowledgable and involved in politics. Maybe in the general sense it would of been offensive to some. But I know she is very very politically minded so I know her comments were founded from things that did have a meaning.
This post is ignorant, and the fact that race seems to be such a big deal to people just shows how little this country has progressed. I am an American. I am a bi-racial American. Funny how no one wants to say that some people are voting for mccain just because he is white. Anytime a person is not white or male suddenly people are supposedly voting for them because they are black or because they are a woman. DOES ANYONE EVER THINK THAT PERHAPS PEOPLE ARE VOTING FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS A BETTER CHOICE FOR THIS COUNTRY? Good god people
It does not matter how many people are on the ballot, because it really is only between two men.
I am not racist, especially not against my own race. I don’t care what color or what gender Obama is. Two things I have in common with him is that we are both White Sox fans and call Chicago home, which are just as silly of reasons to vote for a President as considering their color or skin or gender. Obama for many is clearly the best choice. So many intelligent Republicans have even decided to vote for him, including the honorable Colin Powell and many other white republicans. Many in McCains own party havs said he seems to be acting unstable and crazy!
Maybe I am voting for Obama because he is white! ;) Let’s remember people he is half white.

Ppl say if you vote for Bob Barr that is a waste of a vote because he will not win. To me its a waste of a vote if you dont vote at all or vote based on someone elses choice and not your own. So me voting for Barr was not a waste of a vote but my personal choice. I dont like neither obama or mccain so why waste my vote on someone i dont to much care for…
Sky you should vote who you feel is the best choice and I am not knocking you for voting for Barr if he is your choice. Millions of Americans feel Obama is the best choice based on intellect, judgement, character, experience, and values. I am one of them and have been a supporter of his for over a year, but only because he is white and a White Sox fan.

greenie wrote:

No need to blame the new presdent, when the blame has already been place on Bush. Clinton pulled us out of the mess the first Bush put us in, and I have even more faith that Obama will take care of the second Bush mess! He may not be able to fix everything right away, but it will get better over time.

I never thought I would feel this way, but I would rather have four mores years of Bush than McCain/Palin.
Post is racist and ignorant. I think you have misinterpreted the whole “I have a dream” thing.
im sure there are a few out there who are.
but
i think most people are voting for him for the right reasons.

It’s offensive to imply that ANYONE chooses a president based on race or gender. What a crass and stupid way to decide! Next it will be, Has that person had a baby. Or, How black IS that person really? These considerations should play no part at all.

Right on! :)
I think the reason most people are voting for Obama is because he is uplifting.
I didn’t read the rest of the posts, but I am voting for him because he is intelligent, very intelligent, which is refreshing.
