I have panic attacks and i need help with them.
I usually get them when i feel a lot of anxiety and something happens to push me over the edge. i have not seen a doctor yet but i wanted to know if anyone knows how to stop them fast while they are happening. halloween is coming and im going to be at a party with my friends, i know im going to have a lot of anxiety becuase its halloween and i dont want to have a panic attack in front of all my friends (even though most of them have seen it) i dont want to ruin the party or anything. so if i do have one, i really want to know how i can stop it while its happening.

i know how you feel.. i have anxiety/panic attacks quite bad. i would suggest going to the doctor cause they can help.
but nothing can instantly stop a panic attack. you just need to sit down, take deep breaths (in through your nose, out through your mouth) and concentrate on something. i find counting helps me. with every breath i take i say a number and keep counting until ive settled down… thats what i do at least and it does help, but like i said nothing in instant.
i know its hard but while youre at the party try not to think about it… believe me, i know thats the hardest thing but just try and think of other things, other than where you are
man this really sucks… today i was at my friends and he scared me with a mask and my breathing was all messed up, he doesnt understand that its not a joke for me.. it really makes me mad becuase im going to be at his party on friday and i hope he doesnt do that to me.. he laughed after he scared me an was like.. sorry i had to do it.. its so funny, but its not. it gives me medical problems, i dont get it.. why would that be funny? he had never seen one but i know that he used to get them too and if he knows what its like, then why would he do that to me? gr
awwh =( yeah that sucks…
he shouldnt have done that but i guess its just cause some people are different… like with me if someone jumps out at me i dont have a panic attack (i just scream at the top of my lungs :P) i get them when im worried about something or in a bad situation. so he couldve been like that too, therefore didnt know that if he jumped out at you itd make you have one.
im not saying he was right btw… just saying.
also tell him ahead of time to NOT do that. stress your point!
The only thing that ever stopped them in the moment when I was having them for me was Atavan. My psych prescribed it to me. That said, only a licensed professional can evaluate you and determine if you would benefit from medication. I’m just letting you know what helped me.

No problem at all. Let me know how everything turns out for you =).
whats that psyflyer?
Sometime a panic attack is a react to the body not having enough oxygen. Slow your beathing and count to four aon the inhale and then four on the exhale
The heart goes into palpitations when it doesnt have enough oxygen. then that freaks people out and that adds adrenaline to the fire. Trust me the breathing sounds simple but it works
okay thank you, i will keep that in mind
no prob
Angels right too. Try and see a doc. they can help
I too get panic attacks for very similar reasons. A lot of the paranormal and unexplained stuff gets to me sometimes, but it’s mostly due to something that happened to me in my teenage years.
What I find helps me, is sipping a glass of iced water. (Not ice as in refriderated, I mean actual ice cubes in the glass) I found for some reason it helps, and then crunch the ice afterwards. Also, try reading something light-hearted, like rare facts about dogs (which helped me yesterday when I had one) Also, a game of solitaire on your computer will help. Your brain will focus on it, and your breathing will switch to automatic normality and your heatrate will slow down.
Also, a balanced diet and a good intake of Vitamin B will help in the long run. If you do speak with a doctor, there’s herbal stuff you can look into instead of running straight to prescribed medication, it might help to ask about that. Doctor’s tend to prescribe too much these days in my opinion. Either that, or they blame it on something you’re doing wrong. Which I think is stupid personally. So make sure to ask about herbal/natural stuff (you can find them at health food shops, natural multi-vitamins, etc) and try to eat a well balanced diet.
Also, sugar and caffeine are huge stimulants, and they can trigger the nervous system. So if you drink caffinated teas or coffee, that might be one of the major problems, or if you just eat too many high-sugared foods.
