Addictions are negative habits out of control.

What are some of the reasons people turn to drugs, gambling, cutting, alcohol etc.. I have my theories but Im interested in hearing yours. And if your interested in getting help with this let me know and/or say this prayer :) “God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change,
courage to change the things we can,
and wisdom to know the difference.”

No I dont agree with you on this one. I think addictions and habits are completely different entities.
Addictions are incurable illnesses, can only be overcome by abstaining, or forcing yourself to stop. Never doing it agian. But it still stays a part of you. You still want to do it.

A habit is much easier to control and stop, They are things that are done on a regular basis but more often than not, are relevent to ones circumstances. Easier to stop and control because they are things that we can stop doing, More a routine than athing than anything else.
This is how I see it anyway.

Someone hurts…thats why many addictions are caused. i am so happy you brought up this topic because i am 14 days clean today (from marijuana). i have been a user since i was the ripe age of 11 years old. my daddy was abusive and we left, he ended up always being in prison. so what helped? smoking…drinking, anything i could cloud my mind with. soon enough, these crutches were just a way to deal with ALL my problems. i have a year of probation for getting caught with it, and i will probably do it again when i am off. but, not so often, and not to deal with problems, to have fun. thanks for listening!!

The reasons why people begin consuming drugs are varied, as are the reasons why people gamble and cut. However, gambling and cutting are not addictions. A tangent, none of us here have any theories. We have hypotheses. As for people who want help accomplishing independence from drugs, I’d advise seeking the help of a program instead of a prayer.
