Democrats need therapy…

I’m tired of it, I can’t do it anymore. I can no longer work for candidates that make me like I should be embarrassed to believe what I believe. I’m tired of getting them elected.

We need therapy; because someone came along one day and said “Liberal mean ’soft on crime’, ’soft on drugs’, ’soft on defense’, Anti-american, Anti-family, morally perverted, weak and dishonorable fairy that is gonna tax you back to the stone age because people shouldn’t have to go to work if they don’t want to”. And instead of responding with “Well, excuse me, you right-wing, reactionary xenophobic, homophobic, anti-education, anti-choice, pro-gun, Leave-it-to-Beaver-trip-back-to-the-fifties!”, we cowered in the corner, and said “Please. Don’t. Hurt. Me.”

No more, I simply will not take it anymore. Here is what I believe:

1) The single most dangerous threat to our nations security is out dependence on foreign oil, and to protect ourselves our first course should be towards energy independence.
2) The idea that we are fighting two wars against a group of people who believes that dying in a war with us will lead to our equivalent of heaven tells me that we aren’t winning this thing until the last one of them is dead; and that is not going to happen. We need an exit strategy now!
3) ‘Roe v. Wade’ is the single most important ruling affecting us today, and to suggest that living breathing American citizens cannot make decisions concerning their own body is the single most unamerican belief I have ever heard.
4) I think it is absurd how the republican right feels that the federal government should be just small enough to fit into our bedrooms. I fail to see how my marriage, your marriage, or anyone else, is even marginally effect by the gay couple two doors down who are also getting married.
5) I know that if you combine the populations of Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Australia, you’ll get a population roughly the size of the United States. We had 32,000 gun deaths in 2000, they had 112. Do you think it’s because Americans are more homicidal by nature? Or do you think it’s because those guys have gun control laws?
6) There is no evidence to suggest that the death penalty is a deterrent for criminals; and of course I my entire family was slaughtered I’d want the criminals killed. I’d want to do it myself, and I’d want it to be cruel and unusual; but that is probably why the victims family’s don’t get a say in the sentencing. NO EXECUTING MINORS!!!
7)I am not against big business!! But I believe that the wealthy who cop out behind the idea of ““This is mine, I worked for it and I’m not letting it go, no matter who I’m helping” are the most selfish individuals in the country.
8) My rights as a human being are more important to me than my life; those who sacrifice their rights for their life are weak. If the government wants to take them from me, they will need more than a piece of paper with pseudonym “PATRIOT”.

I am anything but weak.

I don’t care what you believe, just tell me what it is, and show me that you aren’t weak either.
