Where were you?

Hey i agree that no one should be censored or chastised for their religious beliefs
If you don’t agree, and you have evidence to support your belief… why not prove them wrong?
Sometimes we are sent trials.
I hope this helps. It’s helped me a lot the last few days:
People are often unreasonable,
illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind,
People may accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be Kind anyway.
If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and
some true enemies;
Succeed anyway. people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway
If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis.
it is between you and God;
It is never between you and them anyway
(Mother Theresa. Thanks to chunkymove for reminding me of it via another post one day)
The last verse is easily adapted for anyone’s faith/principlse/beliefs
it should have : If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
dont know what happened to that chunk.
You are also free to leave this site if you’re so sick of it. No one’s forcing you to be here.
That said, the militant theists and atheists sometimes get out of hand. It happens. Don’t take it personally, this is the net.
Do read the whole poem zip. It puts things in perspective.
I have a number of strategies for dealing with the numpties I encounter. Waffling endlessly about how I collect tinfoil, go sand swimming or telling them about my days on a spaceship on mars soon has them running.

Mums, you’re awesome. I like the way you avoid the conflict but still get your point across in an easily understood way.

Then you should probably avoid the religious posts. They come in waves, it’s not this crowded with them all the time.
However, it IS against the rules of the site to rive religious advice unless the OP asks for it… was that a cause at all?
It doesn’t work quite so well online, but it’s great when you want a double seat on the bus all to yourself ;)
I’m just kidding… sometimes laughter helps you see reality.
One of the components to freedom is the right to disagreement.

Choose to be a butterfly. They soar, potatoes sink.

Feel free to leave.
That’s not necessary. You can stay, just keep your faith to yourself unless it’s asked for. Just like everyone else on the site. Well, most of the rest of the site… we do have a few… how shall we say… “zealots”, who get out of hand.
What the poster is talking about is when I make a post on asking for prayer about personal issues people jump into my post and say how anyone who believes in God is stupid and say that Jesus is Satan and make cruel and dirty jokes about my faith.
This happens almost every time I open a religious post even when I specifically ask for prayer or help from others from my faith about my personal issues.
But you can not change people. And for the most part mods have been no help. So the only choices are to ignore or to leave the site.
Making mean comments about the people on the site is obviously going to do nothing.

If this happens again, come and get me. I, for one, will defend you, there.
I just close the post and try to move on. I think some people get off on arguing and I don’t find that helpful…
But thanks, that is very kind of you to offer. :)

What rules would that be Xeno??
Last bullet point.
I don’t like telling people this, but it’s hardly ever enforced. You can get away with it.
And like the Bible… the precious FAQ (not TOS) can be refuted by it’s own words… like the very first paragraph…
What can I do on Help.com?
The concept behind Help.com is easy. This is an online community for asking questions and giving advice.
There is b>no limit /b> to the types of questions you can ask. If another user has b>relevant experience or knowledge /b> to share, they will volunteer a reply. The answers aren’t always instant — especially if research is involved — so check back occasionally.
Ask any question you want. Discuss any topic. b>If your attitude is positive and constructive, any opinion is considered helpful and worth expressing /b>.
Let’s give this post a decent burial shall we? The spiritual life of many here (myself included) have been the foundation of many posts and or advice. Yet there are times when another section of the beloved faq#19 is broken… and that is not being respectful of others religious opinions. Honestly … this thread can go on forever… just like politics… but it will have to be without me.
Bright blessings ~ Richard

Being respectful isn’t the same as agreeing.
Just today, I saw a reply on a post that said when the righteous rule, the people benefit. But if I posted the facts and figures that showed that secular democracies with high amounts of organic atheism and non-religious populations were beating most countries including the United States in several key areas, I would have had my reply deleted. So I do think that the first paragraph isn’t enforced.

The ones Rocky and the other original Admins ran the site with, back when we had Admins that actually participated on the site daily. You hear me, Yourabi?! Stop hiding! Hang out with us and save us from the trolls and the crappy HTML f**kups! And make more Mods! Like the old Admins we all miss so terribly!

Ah, and there’s the link. How convenient.
He’s saying that it doesn’t apply because it violates preceeding rules of the faq.
I was under the impression that it modified the preceeding rules. But what do I know about how a document progresses.
If another user has relevant experience or knowledge to share, they will volunteer a reply.
(Keyword: relevant.)
Limit suggesting religious solutions for problems to only posts where the original writer of a question has indicated an openness to discussing spirituality.
I see no contradictions, Richard.
“… and that is not being respectful of others religious opinions.”
No. Keeping a religion out of topics where the OP does not want it, is NOT being disrespectful to any religion. FORCING your religion into a topic where the OP doesn’t want it, is being disrespectful to the poster.
I’m blown away that this is an issue. How is this confusing?
He said he was off quite a while back.. I think you missed it.

Probably. I missed a lot on my pilgrimage to Burgerfliegel. Er… Burgerking. What I do when I miss a lot like that is scan for my name, and any follow-up thoughts to that.
Sometimes I miss important pieces.
Alas, I am human. Despite trying really really hard.
Next time…
Bring us all one :)

If I had that much money, I wouldn’t need to eat only once a day at Burgerfliegel.
I’m no mod zip. I’m just me. But I think I can see why you might have that impression.
I’m glad zip. :o)
