Cheaper alternative to COBRA health insurance?

I was laid off in August - my company paid for the first 3 months of my COBRA health insurance - now that’s up, I am still unemployed and I have to pay $450 a month to continue my health insurance. I looked into a cheaper alternative and don’t know if they are scams or not - but the companies approaching me with quotes are only $150-$230 a month. Does that seem right? Any advice from some one in a similar situation?
