Quarantine on importing pets?
I’ve been trying to find some information on the quarantine process of animals coming into the United States, however, I could only find the regulations for humans. It also doesn’t state how long they will be in quarantine for.
Thing is, I’m looking to going to the U.S in Decemeber, and it’d kill me not to have my cat with me (she’s like my rock, and if I have a panic attack, she calms me down) emotionally, and possibily mentally.
Does anyone know at all the regulations about U.S Quarantine when coming from Australia (it’s rabies-free, and she’s healthy, has all her vacinations, treatments up-to-date) Even better, if someone could help me with information on what is required to have quarantine mandatory. Coming from such a high-quarantine, low-diseased animal continent, I was thinking perhaps the regulations might change which how long she will stay, of if quaratine is actually compulsory at all. I’m probably wrong, but meh, one can hope, right?
I just wouldn’t want to be without her on Christmas (which is also her birthday) and I want to find out the best way to go about it with as much information as possible. Six weeks in quarantine just doesn’t seem legible when we have no epidemic of animal diseases.
