I know, but Azazel sounds dumb, and it’s hardly ever used. No one would know who I was talking about if I used it in most situations. Because of my not using it much, I tend to forget it on occasion.

I did… funny story. I was in this thing called CCD. (Kinda like a forced Bible-study. I don’t remember what the acronym really was… Christ’s Child Deprogramming, maybe. Anyway, they made us write a poem, and I did mine on the Angels.

Traditionally, aren’t christians meant to see satan as “an eternity without god” rather than an “evil being”.
so how is satan meant to physically do all these things if he doesn’t exist? I don’t know too much about this but its just something that makes me wonder.
I know I’m forgetting a sh*tload… There’s well over 100, and that’s just the ones in Heaven. The Fallen are a completely different story.

Actually, the mythology of the Christian-Judeo (sp) faith is amazing, the demons, the angels, and the others..but it is too much to go into here.

I think that, as derviving from God, the host all had names that meant “blank” of God, such as Gabri-El, Micha-El.
this seems right, from memory.
Actually, I did a little bit of reading after this, and I brushed up on my knowledge of the Angel’s names. There are quite a few Angels with names that end in things other than “el”, actually… which I feel dumb for forgetting. Here’s all of them I found, though.

I tried to study some real serious demonology once, but man, there are like millions of em, which is strange, since i thought it was one third of the angels that turned into demons, so there should be twice as many angels as demons..

You are right, it is roughly a third… or so the Bible claims. We all know the Bible is one of, if not THE the most contradictory book in all of history.
I ended up going to the used bookstore here in my area, to see what i could find.
No books on angels yet, but lots of stuff about demons and such.
Strange part; across so many cultures and histories, the same 10 or so types of evil or malicious creatures show up, over and over again. And most of their origins do not read like mythology, but more like speculative science fiction.
The only books on demons around here are religious groups, they usually have a picture of a devil on the front (much like the one from the tenacious D video/movie)
and are very, “demons work for the devil and torture you if you don’t go to heaven”
etc etc…Its really quite crap!

Considering the things that send you to hell, I doubt hell would suck. Think about it, how could heaven be fun if all the enjoyable activities get you sent to hell? Hell is where the party’s gonna be. And those demons? That torture? Lol. We’ll be passing the bong to one of the demons and he’ll light it by snapping his fingers while we chill at the Kurt Cobain concert.

Hell is dispare, sadness, and desolation of the soul. It is not a place, but a place within. Madness touchs the shores of hell, as does untimely death, and the loss of a true love. The wretching, gut turning feeling of a mistake that cannot be corrected, that destroys all your hopes. It has been correctly said that hell is within us all.
Heaven is not a place. The feeling you get when embraced for the first time by a new love, when your favorite pet decides to, for no reason, come curl up in your lab, when you are deliciously exhausted from a long day, and you fall into bed among freshly washed sheets. Satisfaction over a deed well done, and done well.
I will not go so trite as to say heaven is love, but maybe love is a touch of heaven.
And the little Jebs would not be cute,…they would try to pull your hair and gouge your eyes..so you could see better. And the smell..a million unwashed Jebs..greasy little fellas.

I respect your beliefs, Aks, and I actually like a lot of your takes on parts of it, but Hell is something we know we disagree on. I’ll leave that discussion for another time.

Ok now I’m going to confuse myself,
isn’t “heaven” as it is described- meant to surround us with those we love and WHAT we love. So if we want to get smashed, can’t we do that in heaven?
See everyone says “hell is better” but your meant to get what you want in heaven…so don’t you get what you want in both???

Karma, what you seem to be saying, and referencing, is a mish mash of several different belief systems, along with some good old fashioned hollywood cinema stuff thrown in.
if you ever really want to know what these different groups say about heaven (not that heaven is really part of the Bible, in the original) and hell, feel free to ask someone knowledgable, like Xeno, Rich Hills, or myself, but try to avoid bias people, and try to have clear questions ready, not just general inquiries.
Ok, partly my fault. I studied religion for a LOT of years and then when I concentrated on the christian denominations my brain turned to mush and I gave up.
Its mainly the different belief systems of the christians..

The biased ones are getting themselves banned left and right lately for breaking the TOU. I don’t think they’ll be a problem for long.
