Okay stupid question, but cell phones work all over the US even when someone moves to another state right?

So what happens to the area code? Like say someone bought a cell in Texas with a code of 210 and then moved to another state like pennsylvania. Would the area code stay the same for the cell phone?

I moved from NY to NJ last year and I was able to keep the same area code and number. There are no roaming charges, but I’m billed under a family plan where we have a certain amount of minutes each month. Not sure if that makes a difference. Each carrier is different. Give yours a call.
